| Chapter One
Back Four years after the deaths of the four Neoweapons, the city of Graceful Betrayal is a prospering city of many different cultures. People from all walks of life came to mingle in the crowded streets and hear stories from the locals who were here during the NeoMonths as they had grown to be called. But things are not always what they seem. Ikerus Martin walked down a hall carrying a file. The heels of his dress shoes clicked on the tile as it reflected the lighting on the ceiling above. Dressed in a light gray suit, with matching tie, he stuck out among all the black of the Special Force Agents. They eyed him coldly as he walked past; many still refused to take orders from him. But it didnt bother the old man. Ikerus had his few loyal men and that was all he needed. As he approached a door at the end of the hall, he heard some one yell Again! and there was the sound of a crashing table. Opening the door he was not surprised to see a young man, just turned twenty, standing in the middle of the room, breathing hard. His body was well muscled, but not over done. He bore several scars, including one on his cheek, but that was covered by his black hair, which hung in his face. He grinned, a mocking smile that curled on the corner of his mouth. I can do this all day. He said calmly as his opponent picked himself up out of the broken pieces of table. Fuck you, was the reply. You think youre so special. No, the young man said. This just comes naturally to me. Its not my fault you cant keep up. Im barely even trying and I can kick your butt! He laughed, mocking his opponent. Thats enough. Ikerus said. You have my leave Jones, He looked to the older of the two men, then to the younger. You, I want to talk to. He held up the file. Okay, Ikerus. The young man picked up his shirt and pulled it back on. What is it? Ikerus was quiet until he heard the door to the gym close. I have one more test I want you to undergo. The young man looked at Ikerus calmly. But, you said I know what I said, Jamie, and Im sorry, but I and the doctors would like to try one more test. Well, Ikerus paused. Two, but they can be done at the same time. Jamie sighed. If it will help stop this war, then I will do it Ikerus. But only for you. Good boy, Jamie, Ikerus nodded, throwing an arm around his shoulders. Let us head down there now to talk to the doctors then. Jamie nodded silently and let Ikerus lead him out of the gym and down another hall towards the infirmary. The Special Forces base had also expanded into the hospital and Jamie watched as nurses walked about checking on the patients. If all goes well, Ikerus was saying. You should be up and walking around within a couple days. Huh? Jamie said. Yeah; great. Ikerus opened the door to the ER and was motioned into a room by a nurse, Jamie following. Sitting at a table, Ikerus looked at Jamie. Having that feeling again? Its constant. I feel like something is missing. Im not a whole person, feels like I never have been. Only I cant figure out why. I should be able to tell you. Jamie turned to see one of the doctors walk in. She was beautiful and reminded Jamie of some one he once knew, but he couldnt remember. You have a long surgery ahead of you Jamie. She sat at the table and opened a folder she had brought with her. Jamie stopped listening. These meeting were always the same. They talked about this and that, doing that and this, but whenever he woke up he still felt like something was missing. Some part of him was gone and he had no way of knowing what or who for that matter. Like why did Doctor Cody seem so familiar when he had only met her like five times. As if he had known her his whole life, but he couldnt place her and it bothered him to no end. Leaning back in his chair, Jamie half listened, half slept as the two of them rambled on about his surgery. |
