| Chapter Twelve
Back The scene never changed. It still looked like, as Joby said, a mid January morn-ing. Id like to know what he meant; Ive only ever seen snow in pictures. Our tracks were still visible from where we had been walking around the past few days and this time Joby took care to walk around the tree stump. Besides he was carrying the wince, our most important piece of equipment. We were still cautious of the area, but not as much this time. We wanted to get in the base and off the top of this ground I once called a school. Joby clung close. His head darting from side to side as if looking out for something. Next to me John was mumbling something. A prayer of some sort, but why? I personally figured this Bronze Seid char-acter was far far away from here at this point, but then again, I had never gotten in to the mind of a Neoweapon before. I was scared yes, but not to the point of the rest of them. Or at least the Froshes, Blake rolled his eyes and groaned. Hey Bro, we havent been to church in years. John looked at his brother. Blake shut up! I dont criticize you about your car-toons! Its called anime Johnathan! Guys, I looked at them. We have more important things to do than talk about your bullshit anime! I know theyre classics from the late nineteen hundreds, but stop! The DVDs are over two hundred years old. I mean its still drawn animation for crying out loud! Fuck they havent drawn any animated movies since the early twenty-first century! Can we stop? Joby looked at me. Yeah, sorry Jobe. I nodded and looked up as the flash of the fire alarm caught me off guard again. Jobe you wired in still? Yeah and so are you right? I hope so, I looked at him as we peaked the hill. I really hope so. Alright, Blake said quietly. Whats the layout? Like our place only its two stories. I looked at him as John started down the ladder into the base. Are the lights still working John? Yeah, he called up. Lets go. Its as we left it. Joby kneeled on the ground and the two lowered the wince down. Then Joby climbed down there. I nodded to Blake to head down and Id follow him. Hey, Perti, he called up. Let me have the rope so those two can set it up. Alright, I unshouldered the rope and dropped it down. After one last quick glance around, I swung down and our mission started. |
