| Chapter Ten
Back The stairs that led to the breezeway were cracked and we walked up them, then turned right to walk up a few more headed towards the cafeteria. Blake stood outside, sit-ting on one of the remaining parts of the quarter wall that surrounded the cement pad in front of the cafeterias double doors. He looked up from holding his head in his hands and stood up. He looked scared and his face was pale. How could somebody be so cruel? Dont they have a heart? He was still alive! What? me and Joby said at the same time. Alive? Blake nodded. I couldnt stay in there any longer after he started his story. They arent Human. A Human has a conscience. What? John looked at Blake. Hey, Bro, come on, snap outta it! Maybe we should go inside. I said quietly. Come on guys. I took a step for-ward to turn into the building when Dad, Suzie, and Dennis came out. All three looked pretty upset and Dennis was shaking his head. Fucknig Neoweapons. Jobys face dropped and his eyes grew wide. NNeoweapons?! Here!? Dennis shook his head. The man in there was still alive. He tried to fight him, and unlike the others, he had a chance to escape. He said the Neoweapon was maybe your age. Knew martial arts and carried a strange pistol. The Weapon played with him he said. Physically beat all hell out of him then shot him in such a spot that he slowly bled to death. He also said that before he shot the soldier, he told him his name was Bronze Seid. I tried to picture that. Lying on the tiled cafeteria floor, a teen standing over you, a gun leveled on you. By the way, he said. My names Bronze Seid. I shuddered. That had to be a horrible way to die. Slowly and painfully, wonder-ing what life will be like on the other side and if youll see another Human before you died. Then there were the Neoweapons. Bronze Seid and Jene DeVowe. Were all of them like him? Would Jene have been like that if he had been handed a gun? What kind of creature had this group of nobodys created?! What kind of sick mind did they have?! Or were they originally made for a different purpose? Whatd you find son? Huh? I looked at Dad. A hole. And a bunch of dead bodies. A hole? Suzie asked. Could you be a little more descriptive Petri? A dark hole. And deep. We tried to use Jobes flashlight, but it fell short. I shrugged. And now this. My Dad nodded. Hmm. Welcome to your first mission boys. |
