Heero woke in his bed with a killer headache. He remembered instantly what had happened and groaning, rolled over to apologize to Duo, but Duo wasn�t there. Heero knew this time that Duo was real; the feel of his kiss lingered on Heero�s lips. But where was he, and why wasn�t he lying here with him? Had he pushed Duo away and he had left?
No, Heero decided. Not Duo. Duo would have said something; he wasn�t the type to sneak around when it came to them. Heero moved his arm over to the other side of the bed. It was still warm. So Duo had been there.
There was a knock on the door and Heero turned to see Duo, leaned against the frame. �Hey,� he said quietly. �Now that we�re alone I just wanted to tell you something.� Duo reached behind his head, scratching his neck. �I�ve wanted to tell you this for a long time, but each time I get the nerve to do it, something comes up. I wish you were awake for me to say this�.�
�I�m awake.�
��but this will do.� Duo took a deep breath and stared at the same far off point that he had been staring at the entire time. He was quiet for a minute as he exhaled through his nose. Heero was quiet. ��I love you Heero. I have for a long time; this just made me realize I don�t want to do this alone. I need you with me and you being like this just makes it so hard. You need to wake up; you can�t do this to me. Not now, not after everything we�ve been through.�
�But,� Heero sat up. �Duo I am awake.� Duo didn�t answer, just sighed and turned to leave. �Duo? Duo?!�
Duo stopped and Heero�s hopes were raised. �Please,� Duo said with a shaky voice. Heero could see the end of his long braid twitching from Duo trying to hold back the tears. �Just wake up Heero. I just want you to wake up so we can go home.�
�But we are home�� Heero trailed off as Duo walked away. He hadn�t even heard a word he had said. Duo had come to tell Heero he loved him. �Duo!� Heero jumped off the bed to follow, but as his feet hit the ground the floor gave out from under him and he fell. Fell and fell into a darkness he had felt before. He had felt it only once and he didn�t like it. Only then did he realize what was going on�
