| Chapter Eight
Back The day was like no other. There was some form of air to it that just sent a vibe of achievement to the three killing Cyborgs. They set out in the morning with Benji towards the Special Forces Base. The thought of suicide was never a big deal to the three of the Neoweapons. Benji on the other hand wasnt about to kill himself over a bunch of stupid cards. He rolled his eyes. Why had the three of them become so obsessed with those damn identification cards? He groaned and sighed. It was going to be a long day. Akira stood next to a half broken wall, katana in his right hand, pointed towards the ground. Seid, look at this. Whats going on? What are you talking about? he walked over to Akira, Tekk following closely behind her brother. Where did all those people come from? she asked as she stepped up beside Akira. Down below, the people, thought for so long to be scarcely numbered, had become visible for the first time in a large group. Tekk took a step past the building towards the steeply sloping hill, but Seid grabbed her by the shoulder. If they see us, Tekk, this mission will be canceled. Benji Leigh, whats going on down there? he looked back to him. Benji walked over as well and stood next to Tekk. Today is the three year anni-versary of the Colony Drop. The day the world came to an end. People who survived do this every year in Graceful Betrayal. It one of their ways of paying tribute to lost loved ones, family, all the people of the world who died. If only they knew it was the Special Forces who were responsible for it all. The three Cyborgs looked at Benji. None of them said a word, just looked at him calmly from behind their tinted sunglasses. Finally, their piercing stares got to him. What? he asked quietly, still fearing them just a little bit. If they wanted, and had threatened to do it before, they could kill him and he would never know it. And none of them would care that they had. He had seen them kill. They were graceful in their killing movements and hard to follow. With the snap of the fingers he would behe jumped. Akira and the others started to laugh. Gotcha. He finished his step towards Benji. Come on, lets get to the Special Forces Base before they realize were out look-ing for trouble. Like I said last night; its suicide! Seid never turned to look at Benji as he started to walk away followed by the other two. Then stay here if you want and join their hopeless party. None of them will live to tell about it. What do you mean? Benji sounded shocked as he looked at the back of Seid. Well kill them all. Tekk said calmly. The other two laughed as they rounded the corner of the building across the street. Guys! Benji ran to catch up and found them walking like they had no place im-portant to be. Calmly, silently. All three looking straight ahead, like they were just on a daily walk. Hell, Akira even wrapped his arm around Tekks waist and pulled her close to him, kissing her hair. Seid stopped as he got to the base of the dirt road where the Special Forces were located. Up there... he trailed off. Benji stopped behind them. Lets go cause some trouble. He walked on again. The dirt road was well packed and easy to walk up. The trees covered the left side as the right side became steeper and stepper into a slope as the road rounded the corner. The base of the threes enemy wasnt as complicated at thought to be. It was a basic group of cement structures with an easily over come fence around it. There were ten or so black Sadans parked throughout the base that the three could see right off hand. They knew there would be more. There was no place to hide. Akira placed his hand on his sword. Its too quiet Seid for there to be people here. I know, but they are. He looked at Tekk. You want to do this? Do I look like I want to back out of this? she glared at her brother. I just thought I would ask. He shrugged. Akira laughed. Well, have I ever backed out of a project before? For crying out loud Seid you were the one who left. Quiet, Love Akira trailed off. Bronze glared at Tekk. Dont bring that up. Lets get outta he The gun shot fired from nowhere and buried its self into the ground next to Seids foot. He looked up as a second shot sounded and a black Sadan came rolling up the hill behind them, blocking off their exit. All we can do is fight. Tekk mumbled as she drew her pistols. Akira calmly drew his sword. Seid crossed his arms as the doors to the Sadan opened. Benji started to slowly back away, unnoticed by any of the three Ne-oweapons. There was a kind of quiet as the Special Forces lined up around the three Cyborgs. A wind kicked up blowing dust and scrapes of paper. The letter Akira read the day before floated by quietly on the breeze. No one dared move an inch and no one dared to take the first shot. It seemed like forever before some one spoke. It was a Special Forces Agent to speak first. Neoweapons. Listen to me, my name is Ikerus Martin and all I want to do today is talk to you three. No one else dared move. As you know, we Special Forces want you to lead our army into battle Against what? Youve destroyed it all! Tekk cocked the hammers back on her pistols. Whats left to conquer?! Bronze looked at her. Quiet. Ikerus continued. Youve got us all wrong. There are two groups of Forces. One for stopping the other. We want you to lead our army to stop the others. Seid looked past Ikerus. Some of the Special Forces were smiling; others were trying not to laugh. He looked back to the old man. How come I dont believe you? If you were a different group of Force Agents, how come youve been trying to kill us? If you wanted to talk to us, you wouldnt have killed Jene DeVowe! Hold on! Men, dont shoot! he turned to his men behind him, then back to the three Neoweapons. Lets work this out. All we want to do is talk. Yeah fucking right. Tekk leveled the pistols on Ikerus. I dont buy this bull shit boys. Me neither, Akira flipped the sword in hand. Hey, Seid lets get rid of them. Yeah, I say thats a great idea. He nodded. But not today. He took a step to-wards Ikerus and the other two followed. Let them pass. Ikerus held out his arm to keep the others from shooting the three killers. Not today. Lets part with only words spoken between us. Tomorrow is another day. The fighting can commence then. He watched as the three walked past. Seid was the last. You do know Ikerusif I wanted to, we could kill you all and leave unscathed. Ikerus nodded. I know. Youre brave kids, you three. So are you, Ikerus Martin. He nodded and walked off with the other two. Ikerus watched them go. He was a Special Forces Agent, true, but his intent wasnt to kill the threehe just wanted to know about them. |
