Chapter Three
Back

Tekk turned ever so slightly as she heard foot steps coming up the stairs. From the center of the room, Akira lowered his sword slightly and listened, ready to make a move as soon as the door opened. And the steps kept coming. What if

Quiet! Akira looked at Tekk. What if its not him? he snapped back in a hiss already knowing that Tekk would ask if it was Bronze. You want them to know were here?

She pulled her pistol. Then shut up Akira! she snapped back. Youre the one making all the noise!

The door slammed open and Bronze leaned against the door as he saw both of them snap their heads to the door. Why dont both of you shut up? I could hear you half way up the stairs. He stood up. Nevermind. Lets go. He turned again.

Go where? Tekk shoved the weapon back in her jeans. What have you got this time Bronze?

A new place for us to duck cover. No one will find this one either, dont you worry about it Tekk. Well be safe there.

How safe is safe Seid? Akira sheathed his sword and picked up his back pack. Huh? What type of place have you found this time and why should we even listen to you?

In a flash, Bronze was in the room and was holding Akiras vest in a tight grip. You want to fucking mess with me or not Akira? Why dont you just play nicely and move along?

Who put you in charge? Akira pulled him self from Seid. Yeah, lets go Seid. You know Ill win any day against you! I was just playing earlier today. I didnt want to fight to my true potential and kill you.

You fucking bastard! he pulled back to hit Akira, but Tekk cut in and grabbed Bronze by the arm.

Both of you stop. Lets get the fuck outta here. Some ones going to hear us up here and call in the Special Forces. You want that? I know I dont. she threw Seids arm and stepped back. I dont much like this either Akira. You, she pointed at Bronze. Coming in here and telling us weve got to move again and not explaining where the hell were moving to. And you, she turned on Akira. Always picking a fight. What the fuck? Dont you have anything better to do? I know you said you two are going to fight, but this is getting ridiculous!

The two boys just looked at Tekk blankly for a second before Bronze turned. Lets move. I want to get outta this area as soon as possible.

Yeah, yeah, Akira nodded as he followed behind Seid. Tekk sighed and just shook her head. It was going to take a while before the two boys learned to live with each other, if they learned to live with each other at all.

Seid was already on his way when Tekk reached the bottom of the stairs and she ran to catch up with him and Akira, who was walking calmly behind her brother. Where exactly are we going Seid? Tekk ran in front of Seid and stopped him with her finger in his chest.

Youll see if you back off and let me show you Tekk! he snapped at her. Just shut up and let me work here!

She stepped back. Sure, what ever you say, Bro.

He glared at her as he walked by and Akira laughed as he stepped up next to Tekk. Nice one, piss him off some more Tek. He reached out to put his hand on her shoulder, but she hit it away forcefully.

Dont touch me Akira. How many times do I have to tell you these things? she crossed her arms and stalked off after her brother.

Akira shook his head. Alright then, I wont.

Things from that point on were rather quiet. None of them said a word as they walked through the broken town and down into the sewers, through the tunnels and to the small area that looked like a dead end. To that small square room that Benji blinded Seid in. With that thought, he put his glasses back on. Watch your eyes you two. The light is pretty bright down here.

And what light would you be talking about? Akira asked as he leaned on one of the walls. With out a word, Seid turned and pushed the door back. Tekk turned from the light as she put her glasses on and Akira threw his arm up as he stood up. What the hell is this place? he asked loudly.

This place is where well be staying from now on. Seid took a step into the room, followed closely by the other two. Benji Leigh.

There was no answer, but a rustle of paper and the closing of a cabinet door. A second later he came out into the room. Both Akira and Tekk pulled guns, but paused when they saw that Bronze didnt even flinch to his gun as he saw this kid. Careful Bro, Tekk clicked the hammer back on the small hand held weapon. He could be armed.

Just shoot him. Akira cocked the hammer back and was about to pull the trigger when Seid grabbed the gun away from him. Hey!

Dont shoot him. Hes the guy who showed me this place. The last thing you want to do is shoot him.

Why? Akira asked half annoyed with Seid. I really wanted to shoot him.

Benji looked at Akira with caution. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Benji Leigh. And who might you two be? he looked from Akira to Tekk. Tekk calmly crossed her arms.

The names Tekk. You, Benji, can call me Tekk.

And Im Shi, Akira, he bowed slightly. I suggest you remember that. Im only going to tell you once.

Alright Shi, Benji nodded. Welcome to my home, you two. I dont know what Bronze told you, but you three can stay here if you want. I know youre interested in the Special Forces. Or, well, Bronze is interested in the Special Forces. He laughed and turned away from the three. Come in, come in, I got a few things I want to show you that I got from the Forces today.

What? Seid asked calmly and followed Benji deeper into the house. Akira and Tekk followed closely behind Seid. Benji walked down a hall and into what looked like a dinningroom. There was a table with a few chairs around it in the center of the room with a light hanging down towards the table from the cement ceiling. On the table was the folder Benji had from earlier that day, papers spread out across the flat surface; Benjis sunglasses in the center of the mess. Seid looked to him again to notice that he was in fact not wearing the glasses and that his eyes were a hazel brown in color. He paused for a second by the table before he sat down in one of the chairs, motioning for the other three to sit with him.

Benji picked up one of the pieces of paper. This is a telegram from one city to another talking about some sort of Neoweapon project. It mentions a name, Jene DeVowe, and how this person was somewhere on Earth, after escaping the Special Forces on the Colonies. Thats all it says, but this is the interesting part. This report, he held up a dif-ferent sheet of paper. Dated roughly a year later, states the death of one Jene DeVowe. Thats what gets me, or, well, one of the many things that raises questions in my mind. He shook his head. First, what the hell is a Neoweapon, second, why did the Specials want to kill Jene, and third, why was is so important that they get their hands on this Ne-oweapon thing, that they killed it if they couldnt get it?

The three looked at each other blankly, then back to Benji as he began to talk again. But with yet another break in of the Special Forces Base, I came across some in-formation that made no sense to me till today and even more sense in the past ten min-utes. He picked up the folder and handed it to Seid. Take a look at the three files in that folder. Its you three. Are you three really what the files say you are? Are you really cybernetic killers?

Wanna find out? Akira stood up and leveled the gun against Benjis forehead. A second later, he felt the cool metal of a barrel against his own temple and Akira turned to look at Seid as he clicked back the hammer. What?

I told you you cant shoot him. Bronze said quietly. And I meant it. You can not kill Benji! Clear?

Akira stood still only for a second before he sighed and lowered the gun. Benji gasped a sigh of relief and relaxed once more. Thanks Seid, for a second there I thought I was dead.

No, not today. I wouldnt have shot Akira. I dont feel like dieing today. He leaned back in his chair and looked at Tekk. She looked at him not amused at all.

And whats that supposed to mean? Some times Seid, some days you confuse the hell outta me and then some days I really want to kill you. Tekk glared at her brother.

But you never do, why? he turned his attention to the folder and opened it. His file lay on top, then Tekks and lastly Akiras. He handed the folder to Akira as he heard Tekk mumble something about him and her being siblings.

The file was skimpy. Not much about them at all. Yeah, it had the basics on being the weapons and class, subject, but that was about it. It had names and something that could be called a picture at the most. There wasnt even a picture of Tekk, a blurred one of Akira and a far away one of Bronze that had Petri in it and you could easily mistake one for the other in that one.

So, Benji leaned forward in his chair. Is it true? Are you in fact the Neoweap-ons that they talk about? Are you really programmed killers? Whats it like? Do you re-member your parents? Do you even have parents?

The three paused. Tekk tensed as she looked up to Benji, Akira glared at him with a look that asked how dare he and Bronze sighed calmly, but at the same time rather annoyed. Benji, let me tell you something about us. If you want to livestop asking questions. As for this one? he paused for a split second. The only parents I know are the Bioengineers who gave birth to me.

Thats the only parents any of us know. Those fakka scientists that were cor-rupted enough to create creatures such as us. Do you really want to fuck with us?! Akira slammed his fists on the table and they all jumped. He started laughing, but stopped as Tekk smacked him in the back of the head. Ow! Tekk! What the fuck was that for?!

Stop being such a dick Akira. Man, dont you have any manners? I know you do.

Do I reprimand you Tek? No, so could you please leave me

Both of you knock it off! Seid looked at them. We have more important things to fight aboutlike how you got these files and whether or not we should kill you. He looked to Benji. His mood instantly changing once more.

Yeah, now youre talking! Akira pulled his pistol again. I really wanted to kill something today too. Can we? he paused. Wait, why am I asking your permission?

Because Tekk cocked the hammer back on her pistol as she shoved the end of the barrel against Akiras jaw. You shoot him, you deal with me.

Ya know, Akira let the pistol swing on his finger. Thats one thing I love about you.

Tekk narrowed her eyes as Seid raised an eyebrow. Shut up Akira.

You three have a very interesting relationship with each other, Benji spoke softly, not really wanting to piss these guys off at this point. Things must never get dull, huh?

Benji, Seid crossed his arms. You really want to die today, dont you? I just might have to let Akira have at you.

He flipped his gun again. Wouldnt that be a shame? he laughed and leveled the weapon against Benjis temple, ignoring Tekk as she dug hers into his jaw. Just give me the word Seid.

Shh, calm down, Akira, just wait, lets get some info from the kid first before we kill him, he might come in handy later on in infiltrating the Special Forces headquarters again.

Since when do you use big words like that? Tekk turned her weapon from Akira to Benji. Huh? Nice play of words.

Since when are you the author? Seid asked quietly. Never mind! He raised his voice again. You better start talking Benji. Find a way to convince us to let you live.

If Benji was scared, which he was, the three could tell, he did a very good job of trying to hide it. Um he started and gulped hard. Well, Seid, you know I can get in and out of the base
