| Chapter One
Back The night was dark and it was rather warm for the time of year. Only if Bronze knew the time of year it would be better. He stumbled forward and fell to his knee. He looked at his pants to see the blood soaked material and he could feel it running down his leg. But he had done it. That damn Burns brat was dead. Well, he really wasnt a brat. He kept Bronze occupied for the last three years, but now, even he didnt think he could bleed like this. Hed even touched the bone with the blade. He could feel the fibers of the material, his so-called bone, repairing its self. Did regular bone do that as well? He couldnt re-member. He placed his hand on his left knee and pushed himself up to his feet, just to fall again. It was stupid, and it hurt. A lot. To prove a point, by plunging a knife into the shin of your leg, mixing your blood with that of Petri Burns, but what was running through his mind when the moment of truth came and he was killed. He stood again and managed to stand. At an awkward angle, his weight supported on his left leg, his right leg lightly touching the ground, the blood seeping to the pave-ment. He pulled off his glasses and drew a sharp breath through his teeth as he finally tried to stand on his leg. He felt the blood start to flow heavier, if possible at this point, as he brought his leg towards him, to stand square again. He rested the toe of his work boot on the ground and looked down to his foot. This was not good. Hed never actually seen his own blood until now and hed killed so many people, too. He closed his eyes as he felt a wave of unconsciousness wash over him. He swallowed and opened his eyes, as he weaved on his feet. He groaned and swallowed again. The blackness threatened the cor-ners of his vision and he stumbled forward and fell to his knees. This really was not good. He pulled off his goggles and threw his hand to the ground in front of his self before he landed face first on the ground. He couldnt fight it. The black, darkness of not being conscience was becoming a welcome refuge. He rolled to his back and closed his eyes, taking slow and deep breaths. Finally, it over took him, in a wave of rushing darkness and he remembered nothing more. He woke up some time later. Slowly and groggily, he opened his eyes and sat up. A pair of sunglasses, not his goggles, sat on the small table beside his bed. His bedwhen did he get here?! But where was here?! Rise and shine. The voice caught him off guard and he reached to his hip for his pistol, but it wasnt there. He looked in the direction of the voice to see a girl sitting on the table in the corner. She was sitting cross-legged in the center of the table, leaned forward on her knees. Who the fuck are you? Call me Tekk. Every one lese does. She shrugged and jumped off the table. You, Seid, need to get your ass in gear. What the hell possessed you to get a stupid cut like that on you leg? Bronze groaned and sat up. I had to prove a point to a kid I killed. He ripped the thin blanket off of him and looked to his leg. To his surprise, the cut was gone, with out any sign of a scar at all. How long have I been out? Ah, she scratched her head. A few days, I think. I really dont know. I didnt even know you were here till I came by this morning. I needed to hide, so I snuck in here. She shrugged and stepped back as Bronze stood up. Where the hell are my pants? he looked down to his waist, realizing he was just wearing his boxers. Huh? I dont know. She shrugged. What do I look like? Your mother? Bronze picked up the sunglasses and looked at them. Tekk had a pair on her forehead and was looking at him like he was amusing her rather easily. He probably was. With a grunt, he pulled the glasses to his forehead. No, he said finally. But that still doesnt explain what happened to my things. Ill go see what I can find, Tekk walked to the door and placed her hand on the knob. Oh, and Seid, you wont need your glasses down here. The lights are kept rather dim. She opened the door and was gone. He nodded and sat back down on the bed to look at his shin. He should have had some sort of scar from that knife wound. But how come he didnt? Not even a scar saying he had been out for a long time, but he doubted that one. He looked up. Except for the tables and bed, the room was empty. This annoyed him slightly. Who knew who had brought him here or why? Or what was so important that Tekk had to hide from it. And all of his things were missing. From his clothes to his goggles, to his gunshis guns. That was his major concern. He wasnt whole, didnt know how to operate unarmed and he was now. And venerable. More so then usual. He didnt even have clothes. This, too, like his spiral into unconsciousness, was not good. It racked his brain. Who and why had somebody taken him in and where the hell was he? The door opened and Bronze looked to the door. Tekk! Yeah? she threw him a pair of pants. There you go, youre lucky I found them. That was quick. He pulled them on and pulled them down into place on his hips. She crossed her arms. Yeah, I know, Ive learned to be rather quick in this place. Those guys are al-ways trying to get there hands on me. Although, one of them said I had to get outta here when they got their hands on you. Me? he asked calmly. He blinked and it clicked in. Slowly at first, but then it came flooding back. Im here? I dont know. Wheres here? I escaped from a lab three years ago. He opened the door. There are people here I have to talk to. Like who? she followed him down the hall. Either he knew where he was going or was totally lost, which seemed to be unlikely, because he walked right to the main area and kicked open the double doors. The people in there all looked up and he seemed to know who they are were. Well, he crossed his arms. You finally got me back. One of the men, the one who told Tekk she would have to leave as soon as Seid got here, stood up. I see you met Tekk. Bronze looked over his shoulder to Tekk, then back to the man. Shut up! She has nothing to do with us! What are you talking about? Bronze lowered his eyebrows until they arched over his crimson blue eyes and his voice was harsh. I know about Jene. Jene? Tekk saw the mans face drop visibly drop. She looked from him to Seid, then back again. Well, he said recovering. Then you know what you are. Seid nodded. A slight quick nod. Yeah, I do. And I dont like it. He spoke rather calmly and no one moved. I want my things. Youll get them back with time Bronze. The man nodded and motioned to sit down. Stop. Bronzes voice never shifted from the monotone sound, but the man did. Bronze took one step forward and Tekk saw the men at the table visibly swallow. What was so dangerous about Seid that these men feared him so much. Could that have some-thing to do with his escape three years ago? Lets go, now. He reached his hand back towards Tekk. Tekk; gun. What? she looked at his hand and never moved. He looked over his shoulder to her. Come on! I havent got time for this! he raised his eyebrows as he watched her. Come on we have to work together on this. You and I are so much alike, how can you stay here with them? Slowly she handed over the small pistol to Bronze and he grabbed it, leveling it on the men he turned back to. Alright, this is where it ends. Either you tell me what the fuck is going on or things will really get exciting. The forward man stepped forward and Bronze let him, but he also had the pistol leveled on him in case something happened. Listen to me Seid, give Tekk back her pistol and well talk. Ill explain it all to you, just Bronze cut him off. Fuck you! his grip on the pistol tightened. Tekk could see his knuckles turning white against his tan colored skin. You listen to me. Im setting the rules now. And the first thing on my list isagh! he grabbed the side of his head as if he were in pain. But from what? No one had moved. He looked up to both the men, saw the smiles. What the he dropped to his knees again and to the floor as if he had just fallen unconscious. Tekk looked from him to the men as one of them set a small devise on the table top. He looked over to Tekk and then to Seid. I suggest you think before you act Tekk. What the fuck did you do to him?! What the fuck is that on the table?! The men turned to look at the devise. This, oh, thats nothing. You dont need to worry about that. Its for him. Tekk took a step back away from them and towards the door, looking from the men, who she had grown to trust, to Seid, the kid who escaped from here three years ago. But why had he escaped and what was that little devise? For some reason, I doubt its nothing. She shook her head. |
