Dear Barbie
"Dear Ms. Doll: It has come to my attention that you are not everything they say you are. As a young girl I bought into your mass-produced image both mentally and allowance-wise, believing that what you had was not only attainable, but would someday be mine."
Beauty's In The Eye Of The Beholder
"The media says stuff about the female stars being too skinny, but then the second they gain a pound to get people to stop saying that, they're on the cover of the same magazine under some title like "She's Gaining Weight" or "Is She Pregnant? - Coz She Looks It!"
Shut Up and Eat
"Some of my friends know more about how much fat is in a Snickers bar than they know about the history of our country."
Being Big is a Plus!
"I may not be perfect, but I got the guts to be myself."
Weighing in on Buffy's (not so) Big Girls
"If you think Willow's girlfriend is fat, your scale is broken."
It Ain't Easy Being Female
"Everywhere I look there are pictures of half-starved, bony-cheeked, big-breasted women. The message is clear: a woman should be long-legged with an hourglass figure."
The Life Story of a Woman
"When you are born you are always the most beautiful baby. Your parents take you home knowing that you will be a perfect little girl. And for a while, you are."

Sara Rue from Popular

Sara Rue is the Next Big Thing
Who: Sara Rue, who plays the unpopular Carmen Ferrara on the WB's "cliquish" drama Popular.
The skinny: High school may be all about popularity, but Carmen only cares about cheerleading, even though she fits none of the stereotypical criteria. She's not thin, blonde or popular, but admittedly the best girl at cheerleader tryouts. She doesn't make the team because squad captains Brooke McQueen and Nicole Julian can't get past her weight, but Carmen's continuing quest to become a cheerleader could ultimately turn the idea of who should be "in" and "out" upside down.
Why we like her: She's sassy, fashionable and courageous. With these traits we can't figure out why SHE's not popular. Besides, Carmen has some of the best lines and subplots in the show. We also love Sara because of her range as an actress. She's played a wheelchair-bound character in the WB series Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane as well as Earth Girl in Can't Hardly Wait. Sara can also be seen in a theater near you in A Slipping Down Life, with Lili Taylor and Map of the World, with Sigourney Weaver.
Betcha didn't know: Sara plays guitar, sings and writes her own songs. She has even performed in coffeehouses around Los Angeles and tries out new material on her three cats and Max, her bearded dragon lizard.
