In The U.S. got trounced again on July 4 when a 131-pound Japanese student, Takeru Kobayashi, broke the Nathan's hot dog eating contest record, by downing 50 wieners in 12 minutes. His top technique consisted of braking the 'furters in half and wolfing'em down. Later Takeru boasted he could easily have eaten 20 more. Facts to relish: Americans scoffed 20 billion hot dogs last year. During the holiday weekend, they put away a mere 150 million dogs.
