PHILIPPINES
Immediately after final
exam week of my Junior year at Hope College, I boarded a plane with
5 other Hope students and 3 staff, and literally travelled
to the other side of the world. After travelling by plane, bus, van, and canoe - we finally
arrived in Dibagat - with a mission to build a house
for a Wyclef Bible Translator, Rudy Barlaan. Rudy was translating the bible for a group of
people called Isnags (www.isnag.org). Our trip was organized by JAARS, which
supports Bible translators with transportation, media and other
technologies. Follow this link for more
info on the success of our building project.

This was my first time
traveling internationally (other than just across the border to mexico), and I was very
excited to experience a new culture.
Rebecca Haynes, another Hope College student on this trip
wrote a great essay about this trip, which was also her first time traveling so
far from home. Follow this link to read
her impressions of Nard, our trip leader.
