The frequency with which I impress the hell out of myself is tempered by the number of times I figuratively smack my forehead. I've experienced both in the past 24 hours. I realized
yesterday, I kvetched about not having anything to write about while apparently blocking out the "Allen Wrench Incident" that had occured less than two hours before. See, Mussels left a few pieces of furniture here when he moved to the Great White North. One of the desks (yes, he left two here and took one with him. I can only imagine that his desk buying is akin to my shoe purchasing) actually matches my bookcases, so I thought I would move it out into the living room from the guest room.

Well, see, the desk is designed to fit into a corner, so it's a bit awkwardly shaped. It wouldn't fit thru the door. I had not planned ahead and did not have any tools with me. So, I went to Tom Thumb, since the movers were imminent, and bought a six-in-one tool with two allen wrench bits. Yeah, neither one of those fit. The guys had to install the carpet around the desk, because they didn't have an allen wrench either.

My plan for today was to come over the condo and clean so I can move in. And to rearrange some furniture and stuff. Can you guess? I forgot my tools. I had to go to Home Depot, so I decided I would buy a cheap allen wrench set, because I had already been back to the apt once for the vacuum cleaner. Yeah, forgot the allen wrenches once I was in Home Depot. I realized in the car and just said fuck it and drove back the apt for my tools. I got the desk apart and reassembled in the living room, with some help from Ben, who was visiting at the time. Allen wrenches are evil.

I changed the thermostat today. That really sucked too. I don't want to have to do that again. Too many little pieces and wires that snap off when they aren't supposed to. Although, this was the part where I impressed the shit out of myself. I also discovered that garden tools can be repurposed as wire stippers/cutters when necessary. It does appear the thermostat was the problem because this one is working the way it's supposed to. Yay! Heat!

An interesting thing happened today. Since I was going back to the apt for the vacuum and I was craving it, I stopped and had breakfast at IHOP. I bought a paper and settled in with my coffee. I was just thinking it was a great way to spend a day off when I looked up and saw one the cosmetics managers walk by. I asked her if she wanted to sit with me and she did. We had a great coversation over pancakes. I was really glad I ran into her. She's my favorite of the three. It was cool. We talked a little bit of shop, but only at the end.

I get to spend a great amount of time in the next week packing my apartment. I forgot to call the movers today, so I'll have to do it tomorrow. I want to make sure I have them locked in for next Friday, otherwise I'll keep procrastinating about packing. That wouldn't be good.
