December 17, 2004

I just realized that my birthday is in one month. That's a happy-making thought. Especially since today's entry is going to be titled "Things that Annoy the Shit out of Me."

People who say "boughten." I know I'm not an expert on this great language of ours, but I am pretty darned sure that "boughten" is not any sort of conjugation of the word "bought." If I am wrong, please let me know. Until then, I will continue to be annoyed by it.

People who say "I am nauseous." My usual reply is "Yes, you are." There is beauty in that statement for several reasons, not the least of which is that I have insulted them and they don't know it. The word you are searching for is "
nauseated" What most of these idiots are saying is not that they feel sick, but that they are the cause of a feeling of sickness, as demonstrated here.

I love
dictionary.com. They even included a "problem usage" clause in their definition of nauseous that demonstrates how stupid people are. The really annoying thing (Yes, I know, there is more) is that someday, this will become proper usage. Our language is breaking down because of stupidity and no one seems to care. Don't get me started on the death of the adverb. I could be here all day.

I'm trying to come up with more things for my list, but the problem is, there is a plethora of things I could write down. Most of them involve the actions, or inactions, of other people. So, I think it is safe to say that people in general annoy me. Especially, the way they treat each other.

Take, for example, the woman from last week. The one who insulted me in the store. It's
here if you missed it the first time. She basically let her own insecurities influence how she treated those who were trying to help her. It's not my problem if she's threatened by those of us talented enough to apply make-up to people. It's not even that great of a skill. I mean, shit. If I can learn how to do it, it can't be that damn hard. But she felt threatened and lashed out. It's so pathetic. That's the kind of person I don't mind judging, just because they actually deserve it.

Anyway, I'm going to have a busy day at work and if I don't leave now, I'm going to be late. So, cheerio all. I'll see you on the flip side.
