| August 13th, 2005 Is it really too much to expect that more people would update their blogs on the weekends? I mean, come on. I need to be entertained. DANCE, MONKEYS! I have the weekend off and I'm enjoying it. So far, I've done a whole lot of nothing. And enjoyed every minute of it. In fact, I am boozing it up as I type. (That's my subtle plea to forgive misspellings, if they occur). I got up this morning, after staying up late watching movies, made some pancakes, watched another movie, took a shower, ran some errands, watched yet another rented dvd, and now I'm drinking Rusty Nails. I included that link because I think the domain name is funny. Anyway, I have no plans for the evening, as yet, but we'll see what happens. Might start making some phone calls. Or, I'll stay in and read the new Entertainment Weekly. It's the Fall Movie Preview, my favorite issue of the year. So, I know I'm supposed to be talking about movies on the Seeing page, but I don't feel like doing that much work, so I'll outline a few things here. One of the movies I stayed up watching was Things Behind the Sun. On the whole, very good. I had a few arguments with it, but then again, I've never been the kind of person that watches movies with the intention of tearing them to shreds. I wouldn't really make a good film critic. I generally love movies. Anyway, I'm definitely going to keep an eye on Gabriel Mann. He's just hot. And excellent in this movie. It's got some heavy subject matter, but it's dealt with in a very up-front way, which made it easier to watch as the events unfolded. I feel the need to make the following public service announcement: Alexander was a huge, steaming pile of shit. My GOD! that was a bad movie. I mean, how can you assemble a cast that good and wring the worst performances of their careers out of them. Well, not all of them were agonizing. Chris Plummer is just always good and Anthony Hopkins actually refrained from scenery chewing. He left that to La Jolie. And there was far too little of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Hot hot hot hot hot. Ok, I think that's enough for now. My focus, like, isn't. |
