| April 11th, 2005 We went to the Ranger's Opening Day today. It's been a tradition for quite a while now. Gary said he hasn't missed an Opening Day in eleven years. I've only been going for, I think, five. And I missed last year because I was in Lafayette and we had a game that day. Gary couldn't get a big block of tickets for everyone, so we were on our own in that dept. That meant I had to rely on finding a scalper that wasn't trying to send his kid to college. We actually found a random guy who was just trying to unload tickets, so we got some for $5 each. Yay! Others paid a LOT more for similar tickets. It was a fun day. I have some interesting sunburn patterns too. Speaking of the IceGators... yeah, they don't exist anymore. Gone, fini, kaput. Over. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It might have been obvious to some of my faithful readers that I've had some problems letting go of that job. I still haven't worked out why. I do think it's made it tougher to deal with that I haven't found anything I really like since then. Oh Hell, I don't know why I can't get over it. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Anyway, at this point, it's all over. There are few things from that office I wish I could have. Some posters and stuff. I'm also a bit resentful that the League has offered to help the office staff find new jobs. What about those of us that didn't want to lose their damn job in the first place?? I wouldn't have minded some help getting right back into things. I do still believe that things happen for a reason and all is for the best. But I would like to have a hockey job again. For now, I just need to go pay bills. Bleh. |
