Virginia Small Wind
Purpose
The purpose of the Small Wind Systems in Virginia grant is to create a plan for the development of small wind in Virginia. The project focused on economically depressed areas and opportunities for developing wind in faith-based instututions.

Background
A small wind system is defined as a system that is less than 100 kW. The rotors are 23 inches to 21 feet in diameter mounted on 65-120 foot towers and they are suitable for rural farmers or residences. These small wind systems can operate in class 2-3 wind.
Some issues related to development of small wind are: contractual, technical interconnection issues and net metering.

Our work
Our green energy group consisting of ERT, VWEC and DJ Consulting, with the support of Virginia Department of Mines Materials and Energy has been developing a final guidebook which will soon be available at this website which will make wind energy in Virginia easy.

Thank you for visiting our site!
Have a great day!
The winds of change are upon us. We cannot continue to sustain our energy dependence without investing in renewable energy sources
