“A Weekly School-wide
Communication from Teachers to Families for School Success”
May 25, 2004
English – Mrs. Rezendes: We are
about halfway through the novel A Day No Pigs Would Die. Everyone is doing a wonderful job of applying
active reading strategies. However, it
is important to remember to check the charts in my room to make sure you are
all caught up. J
Geography –
Mr. Palagi: 1st Meeting:
Current Events update; completing mapping of Europe that was not finished during
M.C.A.S. week. 2nd Meeting: Completion of political and physical map
of Europe. 3rd Meeting: Russia and Northern Eurasia review. 4th
Meeting: Mapping the region politically and physically. Note: We are completing
much of the work originally planned for last week because of the M.C.A.S.
testing. Seating has been revised and several techniques are in place to help
students stay focused and succeed term four. Please continue your support of
assignments and other work. Thank you. J
Math – Ms.
Burgess: Students
in the Red and Orange classes are finishing Chapter 12, and will be taking a
TEST on Wednesday. Students in the
Yellow, Green, and Blue classes are working on making their own tessellations. These are due on Wednesday. Blue class will take a Chapter 9 TEST on
Thursday, and Yellow and Green classes will take it on Friday. Have a wonderful week! J
Content Area
Strategies – Mrs. Wheeler: We will be in the Computer
Labs all week working on our “Playbook” PowerPoint Presentations. Students will be creating slides for a
minimum of 10 specific reading/content area strategies. Each slide should have a title, the purpose
or benefits of the strategy, directions on how to do the strategy, and
an example of the strategy. Although
the DEADline for this project is June 7th, most of it should be
completed by Friday! J
Science – Mr.
Fisher: This
week in Science we are examining all of the systems in our bodies and are
performing tests on these systems. We
will be testing our nervous and respiratory systems. We are making system flashcards with illustrations, which are due
on Wednesday. SITN is also due this
Wednesday. Have a stimulus-response
like week! J
Educational
Support Specialist – Mrs. Baker: How is
your PowerPoint project coming? Are you working on it a little every day? What
about your science flashcards or math project? Don’t wait until the last
minute—plan your time wisely. Avoid getting overwhelmed. It is amazing, but
somehow the time flies by with the Memorial Day holiday, Olympics, and end of
the year activities. Before you know it, school will be over. J
World Language – Mrs. Borstel and Mrs. Wesley: Students should continue working on their
10-sentence FINAL paragraphs. These are
now due on 6/10. Schedule Update: Health: now through 6/8; Language: 6/10
through the end of school.
