English – Mrs. Rezendes: This week we will finish up with our unit on Roll of Thunder, Hear
My Cry. The Theme Essay was due today (red, orange, and yellow classes) or
tomorrow (green and blue classes). In
addition, we will begin a unit on persuasive writing designed to prepare
students for the MCAS Long Composition that they will take on March 30th.
Geography – Mr. Palagi:
1st Meeting:
Channel One look at Haiti; cultural beginnings; charting 12”x18”. 2nd
Meeting: Post- test on previous work. 3rd Meeting: The Great Rift
Valley of Africa; archeology and fossils of the region; charting and mapping. 4th
Meeting: Moving up and down in the Great Rift Valley from Ethiopia to Tanzania;
charting and mapping.
Math – Ms. Burgess: This week in Math, we will
be learning about Circle Geometry in anticipation of Pi Day. Sunday, March 14th is Pi Day, and
the Blue Team will be celebrating on
Friday, March 12th. We will be studying the history,
mathematical use, and applications of ∏.
Ask your child what ∏ is and why it is important in the study of
circles. Keep an eye out for important
Pi Day information in future notices and next week’s Tuesday Sheet. J
Reading – Mrs.
Wheeler: This
week reading classes will be in the computer lab continuing research for the
Biography Project. Students are
reminded that they must have 3 sources correctly cited and the
information on the research note cards must show by resource number,
where the information came from. Please
follow the criteria sheet so you earn full credit. Note cards are due next Monday, March 8;
Questions and Answers are due Monday, March 15; and the Timelines are due
Thursday, March 18. There is a reading
journal due Friday. Happy researching.
Science – Mr. Fisher:
Our science
cheeseburger (test) on metric measurement and scientific method is on Tuesday
(ROY) and Wednesday (GB). Students
earned 5 points for creating a mind map as a study guide. Science in the News #3 is due on Wednesday,
March 3. Up to date grades can be
viewed online at www.mfisher.net and are
listed by student ID number. Have a
meniscus-like week!
Educational
Support Specialist – Mrs. Baker: Mid-term has passed. Have you made up all your work? If not plan to
stay this week and get caught up. There are many things due in the next few
weeks—parts of the biography project, journals, Science in the news, Roll of
Thunder theme essays, etc. and Camp Bournedale is fast approaching. Use
your time wisely and don’t get behind.
There is no time at the end of the term to play catch up. Parents, please continue to check your
child’s agenda on a nightly basis. Thank you for you help with this.
World
Languages—Mrs. Borstel and Mrs. Wesley: Students should be
creating a vocabulary game worksheet. This project is due March 18th.
TEAM News:
Camp
Bournedale Update: Final payments are
now due!
Bills for each student were sent home last week.. Checks for final payments
should be made out to: “P. C. I. S. -Camp Bournedale”. Our dates for
camp are March 22, 23, and 24. This is a curriculum-based trip and there are
still students who have not brought back slips indicating whether or not they are
planning to attend--they were given finalized bills for $180.00. We don't want
any student to miss out on a wonderful experience. If you need any additional
information, please contact Karen Baker at (508) 830-4450 x 33.
WANTED: Parents, Family Friends, or Neighbors to
help with early evening activities (6:00 to 7:30) at Camp. Come have dinner
with us, then share your expertise (crafts, games, sports/activities), and help
provide a variety of activities for the students. You are also welcome to stay
for our special team activities planned for later in the evening. If you are
interested in helping, or have questions, please contact Mr. Palagi or Mr.
Fisher at (508) 830-4450 x 33 or by email [email protected] or [email protected]. What can you do to help
us? Plan now to come and have fun with us.

Lists and paperwork were due by Friday, February 27th. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to
be an over-night chaperone. You will be
receiving confirmation letters from Ms. Burgess with important details this
week.
