The Gemini Blue Tuesday Sheet

“A Weekly School-wide Communication from Teachers to Families for School Success”

March 30, 2004

English – Mrs. Rezendes: Yesterday in English, we reviewed for the MCAS Long Composition that students took today.  For the remainder of the week, we will be working on a new unit studying folklore.  Students will be placed in groups and assigned either a myth, fable, folk tale, or legend to teach to the class.    Workshop time will be provided in class to prepare for the presentations that will start next week.

Geography – Mr. Palagi:  1st Meeting: 5 class day; Camp Bournedale wrap-up; evaluations. 2nd Meeting: Finishing up African work; charting ancient people as they left Africa and spread out over the world. 3rd Meeting: Setting up physical and political maps of continents. Note: Due to M.C.A.S. on Tuesday there may only be three meetings for some classes. If there are four meetings then the mapping will carry over into the fourth meeting. Thank you for a great Camp experience and thank you all for your cooperation with Culture Games on Wednesday afternoon.

Math – Ms. Burgess:    This week in math, students in the Red and Orange classes will be Working on the Pythagorean Theorem and Special Right Triangles.  Students in the Yellow, Green, and Blue classes will continue work on Operations with Fractions and Mixed Numbers.  They will take a quiz on this at the end of the week.  Grades close for Term 3 for Math on Wednesday, March 31st.  All make-up work must be turned in by Thursday.  Have a nice week.  J

Reading – Mrs. Wheeler:  We will have many “guest speakers” this week as students conclude their biography projects with presentations on our hit talk show, Gemini Blue Presents People Past and Present. So far, the presentations have been outstanding!  Watch for the Emmy Award announcements in next week’s Tuesday Sheet. J

Science – Mr. Fisher:  We will be completing our Physical/Chemical Changes Lab by working on line graphs and analyzing the data.  We will finish up learning about the types of physical and chemical changes by completing our Mind Maps in class.  We will be starting to learn about the Periodic Table of Elements and how these elements combine to create everything in the whole wide wonderful world!  Have a Mendeleevian-like week!  Grades online – www.mfisher.net.  Questions, comments?  [email protected]

Educational Support Specialist – Mrs. Baker: Grades close Wednesday ! Make sure that you turn in any make up work this week. Have you done your best this term or is it time to think about setting new goals for term 4? What would make you a more efficient, effective learner? What part of your routine do you have to change—when or where you do your homework, staying after school for extra help or to do homework?  Plan now to make the necessary changes so you can have a great term 4.

World Language – Mrs. Borstel and Mrs. Wesley:  We are completing the time unit with a quiz on Wednesday.  A book cover project will be assigned.  It is due May 4th.  Students will be reporting to Health classes on Friday.

TEAM News:

Camp Bournedale:  Thank you to all of the parents and volunteers who helped make Bournedale an incredible experience.

Sad News:  The entire Blue Team extends condolences and our deepest sympathy to the family of Lance Corporal Jeff Burgess, graduate of PCIS and Plymouth South High School.  Jeff was killed in action while serving in Iraq.  He was proud to be a Marine, and we are proud of him.  The Blue Team will be working on a memorial activity in his honor; we will send more information as plans are finalized.
