I taught myself how to knit one type of stitch sometime in 2003. I have taught myself more from several books and with the help of a friend. I have branched out a bit since first starting this page so I had to change the intro a bit! Here are my finished knitted projects so far.

This is my first completed scarf. I really like the yarn I used for the tassels. It would be hard to make a whole scarf out of it but it would look cool. Maybe I will try it one day before I get sick of making scarves.

This one I made for my grandma for her birthday. She wanted red..not one of my favourite colours but I think it worked out well and she liked it.

This one I made for my mom for Mother's Day. This is actually the first scarf I tried to make. I will soon post the picture I have of the partial first attempt of this scarf. It ended up being WAY TOO tight and was taking me ages. So..I unraveled it except for a short bit that I keep as a reminder of how tight it was. This completed scarf went down to the feet. My mom wanted a "Dr Who" length scarf but there was no way I was going to knit one that long!

Here is what I like to call my raggedy scarf. I did a rib pattern. I did knit 2 purl 2 all the way across. It is made out of Chenille. I followed my friend Wendy's suggestion and wove the loose ends into the sides of the scarf to make it more interesting.

This scarf is done in a seed stitch with 100% mercerized cotton. The packaging says to use size 5 needles. I used size 6. The scarf took AGES to make. Not only was the yarn thin but the seed stitch was time consuming. I think it turned out well and my boyfriend likes it. He picked out the interesting colour combination.

Now this is the first non-scarf I have made!!! Thought I would never be able to make anything other than scarves and various other square or rectangle things. I made this from a knitting project box I bought when I first started getting more into knitting. It is the first thing I have actually made from it. I used bigger needles and different yarn than it asked for. I learned how to increase and decrease making this. Decreasing is easy but I am still a bit wobbly on the increasing. Not sure if I am doing it the right way but it worked and the cats like it! Of course the catnip I put inside of it sure helped! The mouth is a bit odd though because I couldn't get it the way I wanted.

Here are three dishcloths I made for a friend. They were all made with 100% cotton.

Simple garter stitch

This is called a mistake rib. It has single braided ridges

This one has a checkerboard type pattern

This scarf was cool....made it with an awesome yarn called Sizzle and I combined it with green Brown Cow cotton fleece. Got the idea for it from a pattern in Stitch and Bitch. They used completely different yarn and a different colour of the same cotton fleece. The scarf is so soft and furry and it has a cool heavy feeling.

Here is a catnip mouse I made for my mom since she liked the one I made for our cats. I did this nose way better but it still looks weird. Oops, I forgot to trim the tail. Oh well.

Okay, the first kind of complicated knitting I have done. Had to learn how to knit on circular needles. Once I figured how to join both sides to form a seamless circle it wasn't too hard. The hard part came when I had to transfer it to 3 double pointed needles so I could decrease it to form the top. I know I didn't do the double pointed needles right but it was my first time. The top doesn't look too bad.

Here is the hat unfolded. It was done in 2x2 knit and purl rib. The red is called "Prairie fire" by Brown Sheep Company (85% wool/15% mohair)...it is so cool if you see it up close it has these silvery strands.
