·And the Angels Proclaim· I used the lyrics Whisper by Evanescence, Good 'n' Evil from the Jekyll & Hyde Musical, and Dangerous Game from the same musical. The characters Draco, Ginny, The Dark Lord, Oliver, Katie and Dumbledore are of course all © by J.K. Rowling (That lucky, lucky lady.) The rest is © by me. Ginny clutched the charmed diary to her chest tightly, as if it would disappear or someone would be able to snatch it away if she let it go for a split second. Her fingers stroked the green silk, the silver tassel that held the book closed entangled around her fingers as well. As she held it close, and closed her eyes, feeling the chilling air sweeping through her hair as she stood on the Astronomy tower, she could feel him so close to her, as if they were together again, side by side. Ginny felt the diary pulse against her chest, a signal that its charmed partner, the diary her love held, was being written in. She opened the book hungrily; hungry for words from the one she missed so much. After she read them, she glanced around hopefully, scanning the shadows below, pleading in her mind for the moon to come out from behind the clouds so she could see clearer. And there…that moving shadow…could it be him..? Catch me as I fall Say you're here and it's all over now Speaking to the atmosphere No one's here and I fall into myself This truth drives me into madness I know I can stop the pain if I will it all away If I will it all away… Ginny burst out of the castle, running as fast as she could to where she had last seen the shadows, slowing down as she realised it wasn’t her Draco at all…just two of Harry’s friends from his Quidditch team…the captain Oliver Wood and one of the Chasers…Katie Bell or someone… Ginny turned away, leaving them to be together in peace and privacy and walked to a grove of trees, where she fell, curling up in the long grass and fallen leaves, hating herself for letting her hopes get so high… Don't turn away Don't give in to the pain Don't try to hide Though they're screaming your name Don't close your eyes God knows what lies behind them Don't turn out the light Never sleep never die Eventually Ginny dragged herself up to her 7th year dorms again after lying in the moonlight, her diary a bit fuller from their writings back and forth. She used the aid of Draco’s Invisibility Cloak he had left in her care to avoid anyone who was walking the halls just in case, wishing they could still at least be corresponding through their joined diaries…but he had been called away. She missed him so much. Sometimes she just went flying on the Quidditch pitch in the late hours of the night, like they used to do, and disappear in the Forbidden Forest in the high groves of the trees, or reach out and hang onto the golden hoops of the Quidditch Pitch, and just scream out his name, her voice full of anguish and yearning. I'm frightened by what I see But somehow I know that there's much more to come Immobilized by my fear And soon to be blinded by tears I can stop the pain if I will it all away If I will it all away… With him always having to go, getting called away to do business and other ‘secret’ dealings…she couldn’t lie to herself, she got worried. She hated it. She hated his father for forcing him to become a DeathEater. She hated anything that could hurt her Draco…she was so scared she’d loose him one day…and she hated what she felt… She felt that that one day would be soon… Don't turn away Don't give in to the pain Don't try to hide Though they're screaming your name Don't close your eyes God knows what lies behind them Don't turn out the light Never sleep never die Ginny got changed as quietly as she could, tucking the diary under her pillow as she lay down, her hand hidden under the pillow as well, still stroking the diary, pleading that it’s partner would be reunited with it soon. He had promised, promised that he’d be back in time for her birthday, welcome always in the castle, as he was a double crosser of the dark side, working for Dumbledore secretly, for Ginny’s sake… She closed her eyes as she continued to mull over her Draco. She always tried to hide the pain she felt, hidden well under the joy he always brought, the happiness they gave each other in their joined company. She felt pain for their future, for what was sure to happen. They couldn’t stay in secret forever…and what he was doing was about the most dangerous thing anyone in their magical world could ever think of doing…toying around in Dark Arts…lying to Tom… Fallen angels at my feet Whispered voices at my ear Death before my eyes Lying next to me I fear She beckons me shall I give in Upon my end shall I begin Forsaking all I've fallen for I rise to meet the end She couldn’t call him anything but Tom…he’d always be Tom to her…the one she had trusted so willingly…he had that effect on people…like the magical version of that Muggle…Hitler… Ginny fell into a deep, fitful sleep. A dreamtime like all the others that had plagued her, starting the night Draco had left her, and she knew it was to join Tom, the night after he’d turned 18…the night after they’d first made love together…the best birthday present he’d ever got, he had whispered to her, making her blush. Ginny was locked in the nightmare, unable to get out, frightened to Hell and back because it felt so much more real then any other dream she had ever seen… She was trapped in a world that was all red and orange; no angels were here…it was her hell. Tom’s voice whispered in her ear, beckoning her to join him as well, Draco lying dead before her for treachery against his Dark Lord, Dumbledore turning away without life in his eyes at all, like he didn’t’ care about Draco, like he was being controlled as well… She had met her end, she felt death becoming welcoming, death beckoning her, forgetting every promise she had every made to Draco about staying alive, even if he did die somehow… Unbeknown to her, she had risen from her bed, still trapped in her dream, and was moving towards the bathroom, where a single silver blade lay, placed there by The Dark Lord himself… Don't turn away Don't give in to the pain Don't try to hide Though they're screaming your name Don't close your eyes God knows what lies behind them Don't turn out the light Never sleep never die Ginny picked up the blade, catching the moonlight on it’s sharp edge as she swept it towards her skin, before stopping suddenly, her nightmare trapped mind suddenly breaking free and returning to a memory of the first kiss Draco and herself had shyly shared, hidden in a corner of the cosy library. Wrapped up now in happy memories, the hand holding the blade fell to her side, and she stood there, swaying slightly on the spot as she stayed, still trapped in the spell that had been cast over her, not aware that the good memories were clashing with the evil fake ‘premonitions’ of her Draco dying… Don't turn away Don't give in to the pain Don't try to hide Though they're screaming your name Don't close your eyes God knows what lies behind them Don't turn out the light Never sleep never die Finally, the evil won over the good… The battle between good and evil Goes back to the start - Adam and Eve and the apple tore Eden apart! The key thing about good 'n' evil - Each man has to choose! - Heaven 'n' hell Is a helluva gamble to lose! - But as I peruse This world we abuse - It's hell that we choose - And heaven must lose! Ginny lifted the blade again, and before the good could overpower the evil again, she swiped down, and spilled the blood Draco cherished so much… Evil is everywhere - Good doesn't have a prayer! And that’s where Draco found her, hours later, before anyone else awoke, his angel lying in a pool of her own blood, brought there by what his Lord had casted upon innocent Virginia, brought there by what he had started…he had dared to try trick his Lord… It's a sin with no name - No remorse and no shame - Fire, fury and flame - Cos the devil's to blame And the angels proclaim It's a dangerous game… |
