Colton Newborn

Colton was doing pretty well after his birth. But during his 2 month check up, the Doctor's noticed that he was "Mild Failure to Thrive", which meant that he was underweight.

It wasn't until he was about 6 months old that we noticed that Colton was not doing the types of things that were appropriate for his age group. Things like, sitting up, eating thicker foods, and the beginning motions of crawling.

Soon after, we noticed that he was not vocalizing like other babies of his age group. And around about his first birthday, he had a seizure. At that time, we did not know that it was a seizure for he just cried out and went limp in my arms. It wasn't until about 2 months later when we really found out because it had happened again.

But this time it was different.

One evening, Colton cried out from his bedroom. I went in, picked him up out of his bed, and brought him into the living room. As I sat down with him in my lap, he began to shake uncontrollably and had high pitched cries in between his shaking. I woke my husband and had him hold Colton while I called the Paramedics.

All in all, that night Colton had 7 seizures with the duration of the last one being over 20 mins. in length. We were told that he may have some brain damage from the length of his last seizure, but that it was impossible to tell at that point if he would and to what severity it would be, if at all.
