Pangkor Island

Nature's Private Island

Situated just off the west coast of Perak in Peninsular Malaysia is one of the most enchanting enchanting islands you'll ever come across. Pangkor has for centuries enthralled visitors with her charming beauty. In days of old, she was the refuge of seamen who sailed through the Straits of Malacca. Pangkor's many idyllic bays made it the perfect stopover. Pirates, adventurers, merchants and soldiers of fortune sought the peace and tranquility she had to offer.
In stark contrast to Malaysia's fast-paced progress, Pangkor remains a haven for those seeking to get away from the hustle and bristle of city life. Soak up the sun on her golden beaches. Catch sight of fishing boats rocking gently on calm blue waters. Get closer to nature as you trek through virgin jungles. Or experience the warm, friendly hospitality of her people. Whichever you choose, Pangkor awaits you.

On the mainland Lumut, the gateway to Pangkor from Peninsular Malaysia is about 2 hours' drive from Kuala Lumpur. Lumut seems contented with its own pace of progress compared to how fast the rest of Malaysia is growing. Old, elegant buildings still house some of the town's administrative offices. Teluk Batik, a popular beach playground and site of the annual Lumut Festival is among the town's few attractions.
