The soundtrack to the wildly popular bodily fluid fest Scary Movie has spawned a middling, intermittently spunky soundtrack with a decidedly 1998-like emphasis on crunch rock.
Scary Movie's grab-bag soundtrack is a haphazard compendium of the diverting and the just plain bad: Up-and-comer Radford flogs the irresistible hook of "Stay" to within an inch of its life, and Silverchair does the same (to less effect) on its already released "Punk Song #2." Fountains of Wayne seem out of place on their less-artful-than-usual "Too Cool for School," and, as usual, the Bloodhound Gang does nothing to justify its continuing existence with "The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope."

There's a host of fairly decent -- and mostly re-run -- hip-hop tracks; the producers unearth Tupac Shakur's long-ago "All About U"; Black Eyed Peas contribute "I Want Cha"; and Rah Digga (collaborating with Rampage and Rock) essays "Fool Me" with aplomb.
