Road Trip, the new Animal House-meets-American Pie Tom Green vehicle, is no doubt a work of great idiocy; the soundtrack, however, borders on genius in its own, curious way. Road Trip is a marvel of cross-generational genre-hopping in which there is truly something for everyone.
Gen Xers will note with great fondness the inclusion of things like Run DMC's chestnut "It's Tricky," the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's Acme gem "Lovin' Machine," and assorted works by Ween ("Voodoo Lady") and Twisted Sister ("I Wanna Rock"). Buckcherry does a souped-up, reverent cover of Dramarama's '80s classic "Anything, Anything" that will likely represent the first time many people under the age of, say, fifteen will have heard it.

Gen Yers will appreciate works by relative newcomers like eels ("Mr. E's Beautiful Blues") and Supergrass ("Pumping on Your Stereo"), though both of these tracks are, like much of Road Trip, readily available elsewhere.
