Review from CDNow
Along with demographically similar shows like Felicity, Dawson's Creek has served as an excellent promotional vehicle for everyone from Ben Folds Five to Joe Henry, both of whose songs have been used as background music for numerous scenes of brow-furrowing teen angst. Given Dawson's often borderline-adventurous musical choices, the show's first-ever soundtrack should be a marvel.
It isn't.

With a lineup that tends towards the young, the inoffensive, and the folkie (on the plus side: no Jewel), Dawson's Creek relies heavily on both Columbia acts and previously released material. Shawn Mullins contributes the peppy "Shimmer"; sample-happy folkie P.J. Olsson turns in the skillful "Ready for a Fall"; newcomer Jessica Simpson adds a polished "Did You Ever Love Somebody," and established acts like Curtis Stigers, Paula Cole, and Sophie B. Hawkins mingle with newcomers like Shooter and Sozzi.

Precocious popsters Sixpence None the Richer contribute "Kiss Me," a song whose ubiquitous presence at proms and in elevators throughout the country does not add to its already questionable charm.
