But here it is... *ducks thrown objects from angry fanfic reader* I'm sorry! =) Neway like usual I did not create Sailormoon, hats off to Naoko Takeuchi, but the storyline is mine, all mine! Muhahaha <--Only child syndrome... *sniff* And yes I'm stretched a little thin. I just got back from a three hour practice in 115 degree heat. I think everything is funny. I'm that far gone. ;) As always author notes are at the end and email me at inspiredthoughts@hotmail.com PS: You don't have to have read the beginning of this series(Ami, Rei, Lita, and Mina's parts that take place in the Silver Millennium) to understand stuff but it would help. Oh and this takes place directly after the Doom Tree Series so I don't have to deal with the Serena/Darien break up thing. Its been done. A lot. Zoicite: Rebirth Chapter One Blackness surrounded him, cloaking him, protecting him, sheltering him, muffling his screams. It rolled endlessly, a blanket of ebony and night in which all stars were extinguished. No light, no sound, no touch, just darkness. He floated in it, held in silence, his spirit flickering, unsure. He tried to think back to before but his memories were blurred. He remembered sunlight and silver. He remembered blue, a cloudless sapphire than shone in his mind's eye despite the stunning black he lived in; cerulean blue, aqua blue, waves of blue, rolling in contentment, raging in disquiet. He remembered pain. He remembered that all to well, the stunning fire than enveloped him and smothered him with its hungry flames. Nothing else though. He couldn't even remember his name; the thought both disturbed and relieved him. He hung there, suspended, for a millennium, forgotten. No one mourned him, no one wept for him, no one condemned him. No companion but silence stood beside him during the long lonely years, except for madness who visited sometimes as well. Others shared his existence and he knew them with any easy companionship that held no words or memories. He always stood by their side. It was an unquestioned fact. But after eternity something pierced their prison. Emerald light surrounded his insubstantial form and with searing pain the blackness vanished. He was in a world of mist, of grays and other muted colors that even in their drabness pained his eyes. Shaking hands reached up and touched his face. He could feel. He had forgotten what it was like to feel the gentle pressure on his fingertips which after so much time were more sensitised than normal. He stood straighter and breathed deeply, welcoming the almost foreign sensation as air poured back into his newly recreated lungs. He held his arms out and felt his muscles flex. His mouth twisted and with a start he realized he was smiling. He had not smiled in a long time. He had forgotten what a smile was. He turned and looked around him, reveling in the movement of life, and realized that he was not alone. Three other men were in the gray world with him, all staring around with eyes that were full of hunger, hunger for all they had been denied in their meaningless existence in the void. He could not remember them but he knew them. He had known them since that long distant time so many lifetimes ago, a time he had no recollection of but yearned for with all his newfound heart. A gentle cough drew his attention and the others from their confused thoughts. A tall woman stood before them, resplendent in a uniform of black and green and white. The brightness of the white and green hurt but he resolutely fixed his eyes on them instead of the easier black; he had been in darkness too long. Long olive hair fell almost to the floor and she looked at them with grave burgundy eyes that measured them but was tempered with a distant compassion, guilt, and much closer pity. She held in her hand a massive staff and even now she leaned heavily on it and he realized that her pale face was drawn tight with what he knew instinctively as exhaustion. Her voice though when she spoke was low and throaty, full of rich tones that made him shiver. He had not heard a human voice in over a thousand years. He was glad he heard such a terribly beautiful one first. "Welcome," she said softly. "I brought you back from the void to complete a promise I made long ago." Her lashes fluttered and with pure will he saw her stand taller to study each of them before those sober eyes turned to him. "What do you remember?" He looked at her for a long moment before finding his own voice to answer, compelled beyond reason to speak. "I... I remember azure blue, sapphire waves; I remember laughter and something I can only recall as joy. Then I remember pain, unimaginable pain that was followed by unspeakable darkness." She nodded and turned to the man next to him. "And you?" The man bent his head, curly blonde hair falling forward to muffle his answer as he stared at the ground. "I remember vermilion red, ruby red, a sea of red in which there was only happiness. Then came the night which knew no end." She nodded again and turned to the man next to him who watched her with eyes as grave as her own, his hair a flow of mahogany that reached down his back. "And you?" she asked. He blinked once before answering, voice unwavering as if rehearsed. "I remember warmth and green, an emerald pierced by the memory of roses. I remember chocolate and joy found twice but lost just as quickly." The woman seemed startled and she whispered to herself. "More than I had hoped. The bond is weakened more than I had dared to hope for..." Abruptly she brought her attention to the fourth man, a man who stood rigid, his silver eyes betraying nothing. "And you?" she asked in a kinder voice. He looked at her and the emptiness there made them all shudder. "I remember sunshine and glory crowned by golden light. And I remember that I failed that sunlight and was cast into darkness as a result. I remember that I failed. I do not remember who I failed but I remember that even with all I had it was not enough. I remember betrayal and shame. I remember love that I lost with my own actions. " The silver eyes narrowed and grew fierce. "And what do you, mysterious woman, know of this past you ask for?" The woman took a step back at the venom, the force in his words. "What do you know of our old lives, what do you know?!" Her eyes darkened and tears filled them briefly. "I know what you have lost. I know your names. I know the loved ones you left behind, the ones you betrayed. I know their names also. And I know it falls to me to make it right." The silvered eyes grew stormy, almost black in their despair. "Make what right?" he asked in an anguished, trembling voice. "Why? Why did we do whatever foul deeds we did? What turned us? Did they die by our hands, the ones you speak of which such respect and loyalty?" The woman sighed and leaned even more heavily across her staff. "I'm sorry. I cannot say, truly I cannot do what I'm about to do either but I swore a millennium ago and now, now that you're free of your dark mistress I may recast your souls into the time stream and give you all a chance to make amends." His own green eyes flashed in challenge. "To make amends for what?" he cried. "Damn it give us a straight answer!" The woman shook her head sadly and walked forward to touch his forehead. His lids grew heavy and closed as sleep slowly claimed him, true sleep. As he floated away her voice, gentle, followed him. "You must find your own answers, troubled one. They wait for you, in life, with all you have ever held and lost and possibly more. Be brave, you will find this existence as difficult as your old one but you will triumph. You are stronger now; your love is stronger now too. I pray you may find the peace so long denied to you Zoicite..." Zoicite, his name was Zoicite... And then the time stream pulled him back into its torpid current along with the three others. Their names floated with them, the barest hint of a whisper to those who would receive them... Zoicite. Jadeite. Nephrite. Kunzite. A pause in the unwavering river of time and then, with a burst, the four were reborn. * * * The spirits gathered around the thrones made of stars and far flung galaxies. Gentle Neptune took her place to the left of Uranus, her slender aqua colored hand linked in his golden. Solar winds from a distant sun ruffled her hair of sea green and his of brightest sunlight. On Neptune's left sat Saturn, a slight woman with light purple skin, violet hair, and deep amethyst eyes. On Uranus's right the massive man Jupiter sat on a bulky throne, his huge hands curled around the armrests, while he studied the rest of the gathered planets' spirits with emerald eyes. To Jupiter's left was the spirit woman Venus who was curled in her chair, golden hair gently framing an only slightly paler face. To her left lay Mars, fiery eyes simmering with emotions that never seemed to cool. On Mars right sat Mercury, a young man with laughing blue eyes and sapphire waves of tousseled hair. Earth and Moon, a strong man of swirling greens and browns and a slight ethereal woman that glowed in silvery hues, sat together, hands linked as closely as Neptune and Uranus's. Moon's head was pillowed against her lover's shoulder and Earth was studying the others as intently as Jupiter from swirling cerulean depths. The nine spirits sat in a half circle and, as one, they turned to welcome the spirit of Pluto. She was older than most of the other women, but a far cry from ancient. She moved slowly, regally, but the image was spoiled by the outstretched hand that kept her from running into anyone. Olive hair framed a rather severe face of lighter green skin. She was beautiful, save one feature. Moon looked up from her perch in Earth's arms and just as quickly looked away for where pupils of dark forest green should have been was only milky white. Not even a beautiful pearly silver like her own, simply white. Of all of them Pluto had sacraficed the most for the greater good. All of the planets had given up parts of their powers to bestow them upon their chosen warriors. She had given her sight because in the beginning when it was decided that a human would guard the time stream Pluto had quietly provided Setsuna and given the then blind woman her own sight. Only through such an act was a human monitoring the time line possible. And even then there were flaws... Saturn rose quickly and led her mentor to her seat. Pluto thanked her charge before turning to them all. "This changes much..." she said softly, voice serene. "Yes," Jupiter rumbled as he stroked his beard. "This is not something even we could predict..." "Agreed," Pluto replied, voice firming some, "but we still should have guessed. For all of Setsuna's good points she is a human and humans as we all know are very fond of free will. No matter what we may be able to instill in her she is not one of us, nor will ever be." Venus spoke up from her comfortable perch, sunny eyes darkening with seldom expressed seriousness. "None the less Setsuna's decision has been made, the damage done, now we must see what the consequences will be. Mustn't we?" Mars nodded to show that she agreed with Venus and the rest of the spirits soon did the same. Hearing their ascent Pluto waved one elegant hand. Mists formed from the nothingness of space to form a pool of white. Images began to flicker by quickly as all the planets studied them silently. Finally they ceased and the mists withdrew as silently as they came. Presently Mercury spoke, his tenor voice a slow, easy drawl. "So the pink haired child does not appear in this time and the Dark Moon Family is also changed." Neptune picked up where Mercury left off, her velvety voice soft. "Yes... They are stronger, much stronger, no Family but Empire. No Sapphire, or Ruby, or Wise Man or Four Sisters." "They were weak," Uranus snapped acidly. "The balance is always maintained. It is one of the universal laws. Neither good nor bad may reign supreme. The battle of good and evil is therefore not fought to win against the other but to keep one side from becoming too strong. The addition of four strong warriors for the side of good upsets the delicate balance. That means that evil must also be strengthened." "I was getting to that," Neptune remarked, fond reproof in her aqua colored eyes. "The timeline is still much the same... There will be a Neo Queen Serenity, a Reenie, a King Endymion, but they will not cross into their past lives. The Black Moon Empire will not try to attack the future in which they live but move directly to the past where the generals were sent. But what will the outcome be? Who will triumph this time... When Neo Queen Serenity, Endymion, and Reenie live will they rule or will they be mere servants of the Dark Moon Empire?" Mars responded, drawing her slender limbs underneath herself to sit up fully, watching them all with catlike slits from under long, dark lashes. "Perhaps it is not for us to know," the spirit all but purred. "We may be above the humans but we are still are not all knowing. We may rule the universe but we did not create it. That fell to the hands of others. The universal rule dictates all. Perhaps it fell so that the future is still evenly matched. No outcome is more likely than another so we saw none. Is that too terrible then, not knowing the future as a sure thing?" At her remarkable question instant objections, and in some cases agreement, sprang up until Pluto waved one hand to silence them all. "As we have said what has been done is done, the damage inflicted, and for the moment we are effectively just as blind as any human." "Except for one very special human named Setsuna..." Mercury drawled out in the ensuring silence. Shocked quiet descended until it was broken by Pluto's quiet chuckle. Yes, they were for all purposes just as blind as any human except for her chosen warrior who wielded her sight. One can assume that the irony was not wasted on beings who ruled the universe and who now did so blindly. "We shall see, we shall watch and we will deal with whatever happens." Jupiter rumbled softly. The planets looked at one another before turning their powers towards planet Earth to watch the momentous battle that would soon take place. Author's Notes: I promise I'll try harder to get stuff in kay? Some weeks though it just won't happen. *wails* So did ya like? Oh sorry Reenie fans she's not going to be making an appearance. I'll probably get some flames from this but I dislike all things pink. A little pink is okay but Pink Sugar Heart Attack makes me gag. Sorry. ;) I'm also making up my first villans. Ohhh, fun, something new. Which means I'll most likely screw it up. hehe Neway when they make their first cameo email me if they are like way stupid, please? Thanks! Oh and email me anyway! inspiredthoughts@hotmail.com PS: If any of you visit the Moonlight Horizon's message board here: Go froggies!
