Disclaimer: Eh, not I Told You So but its something. =) I do not own Sailor Moon or the rights to this song, which can be accredited to Blink 182. I'm making no profit off of this, its just for fun and standard disclaimers apply to both parties. Please don't sue me! LOL Umm, I edited the f-word out in two places so I don't have to rate this R. I'm not trying to alter anything, just wanted to make the story more accessible to people. Thanks bunches! Rating : dunno, PG now? PG-13? =) Story of a Lonely Guy *Push it out fake a smile avert disaster just in time.* Kunzite cursed as he bumped into another pedestrain and his overpriced but blessedly caffeine hyped up Starbucks spilled on his shirt and burnt his hand. He started to take a crack at the idiot who wasn't watching where he was going but fell silent as the woman he had run into turned. She was beautiful in a way that had nothing to do with sex and everything to do with it. He swallowed, twice, and reminded himself to breathe. "Sir...? Sir? I'm so sorry. That was totally my fault. Are you all right?" Kunzite nodded automatically as the girl took his coffee from him. "Oh, I made you spill it all. Here, I'll buy you a new one, if you'll allow me. Starbucks is just right around the corner right?" He swallowed a thrid time and nodded again. The girl stopped and studied him, light blue eyes darkening for a moment with intensity. "Sir?" she asked softly. Kunzite started to talk, stopped, and coughed before managing a weak, dazed smile that seemed to reassure the girl. "That'd be wonderful." The girl beamed. "I'm Mina." He started to shake her hand but stopped and allowed his smile to grow as he realized her hands were full, one with his half empty coffee, the other with a book that was rather familiar. He dropped his outstretched hand and shrugged sheepishly. "I'm Kunzite." The girl's expression dawned with realization as she held up his best selling book questioningly. "Yeah," he replied with an easier grin. "That Kunzite." He ended up buying her coffee. *I need a drink cause in a while worthless answers from friends of mine.* He sat on his balcony, coffee in his hands as he wished for something stronger. He absently identified the stars that filled the vaulted sky of crushed black velvet. Why did he need a drink? Cause of Mina... Mina, the mystery, Mina, the woman, Mina the child, Mina, his heart. What did a confirmed bachelor do when he was in love? He didn't know. All he knew was there was something in him, something empty that was full, something dead that was growing, something cold that was warm. Some part of him that responded to her... To the enchantress... *It's dumb to ask cool to ignore girls posess me but they're never mine* Kunzite sighed. The stars glimmered. God, what did you do when you were in love? Its not like he hadn't had relationships before. He was a good looking guy with a fair bit of money. He partied hard, played hard, enjoyed his life. He had a new girlfriend every week, every month. There was something satisfying about that kind of life but the satisfaction had dulled of late and left something bitter behind. What was that voice inside of him that wanted Mina more as a casual lover, as a woman, as a friend? What part of him longed for eternity? What part of him faced the concept of forever and tried to embrace it? *I made my entrance avoided hazards checked my engine i fell behind Dada,Dada... i fell behind* Kunzite padded into the kitchen in his boxers. He watched Mina for a minute as she washed the dished before walking up behind her and putting his arms around her waist. She laughed but didn't turn around as he kissed her, first on her cheek, then on her neck, then at the spot where the graceful curve of her neck gave away to slim shoulders. "I never thought a big white t-shirt could look so good," he murmured into her ear. Mina chuckled and leaned back to kiss him on the lips before moving back to the dishes. She paused for a minute though and Kunzite caught the half wistful, half sad look in her lovely sapphire eyes. "You okay babe?" Mina turned in his arms but her beautiful eyes didn't look at him. "What?" His silver gaze narrowed slightly. "You okay?" She nodded and gave him a lop sided smile. "Sure... just thinking." He nodded and released her. "Okay, I'm going to go get dressed. I have a book signing later today." "Sure," she replied and gave him a soft butterfly kiss on his cheek before going back to her chore. Her words didn't reassure him though and the look she had worn as she had gazed off into nothing followed him uneasily throughout the day. *She makes me feel like it's raining outside and when the storm's gone, i'm all torn up inside i'm alway's nervous on days like this, like the prom. I get too scared to move, cause i'm a little boy.* Kunzite held Mina close as he listened to the sheets of rain hitting the roof and window of their shared apartment. Mina sighed in her sleep and managed to snag half of his covers as she truend in his arms. She was peaceful when she slept. Her face was open, unguarded, serene as she let dreams take her. But when she was awake? She scared him, frightened him because even as he held her it was as if she was already gone. The look he had caught on her face that one morning was happening more and more often. She loved him, Kunzite knew women well enough to know that she wasn't lying when she told him that. But Mina wasn't happy. And Kunzite didn't know what to do to make her want to stay with him. The rain eased off and then ceased all together, leaving the bedroom in errie silence. Mina sighed in her sleep as she attempted to roll away from him. Kunzite, heart pounding, held her tighter. *Remember when i was in the grocery store now's my time* He held the ring in clenched hand as he and Mina did their grocery shopping for the week. She smiled at an ad and pointed, laughing. He returned her smile as he mentally berrated himself for not proposing. But he was scared. What if she said no? What if she said yes? He wanted to stand by her side for eternity, but eternity as a couple and eternity as husband and wife... He agonzied in silence as they went through the store aisle by aisle. *lost the words lost my nerve lost the girl left a line i would wish upon a star but that star it doesn't shine* Kunzite sat on his balcony under the pouring rain. He was soaked to the skin, chilled, but he ignored it all and turned his face to the sky. Storm clouds were gathered over head and their dingy, soot grayness blocked out the stars. He bowed his head and blessed the rain. Tears unashamedly ran down his cheeks during the night. One hand gripped the cold band of gold tightly, until the clustered diamonds bit into his palm. He wept soundlessly, because he hadn't been able to find the words that he had needed to make Mina stay, or the words needed to express his anguish to the turbulent sky. *so read my book with a boring ending a short story of a lonely guy.* Kunzite walked through his apartment, leaving bare, wet footprints behind him. He walked into his small kitchen that doubled as a dining room, started to get a microwave dinner, but stopped. His dishes were stacked up in his sink. Kunzite swallowed and looked away. He left and walked past his dining room table where his newest book, half finished, lay untouched on the table top. His answering machine held ten messages from his publisher. His book was three months past the deadline. He had no desire to finish it. *Dada.... Who fell behind* Ironic that a man who wrote for a living couldn't find the words needed to keep the only woman he would ever love by his side. *She makes me feel like it's raining outside and when the storm's gone i'm all torn up inside i'm alway's nervous on days like this, like the prom. I get too scared to move, cause i'm a little boy.* Kunzite entered his bedroom, their bedroom, and felt more sobs rising up, choking him as he fought them back. There were memories where ever he turned, every where he looked. She had stood there, at the bureau as she brushed her long, golden hair. Had stood there, in front of the long full length mirror and modeled a myriad of dresses and tops for him, giggling all the while. She had pulled the drapes back ever morning and let the sunlight spray her beautiful features gold. She had touched every part of his home, and every part of his lonely heart. *Dada....* Mina... *She makes me feel like it's raining outside and when the storm's gone i'm all torn up inside i'm alway's nervous on days like this, like the prom. I get too scared to move, cause i'm still just a stupid worthless boy.* 'Oh Mina... I love you.' He leaned heavily against the door frame as sobs shook him. The rain poured on.
