Teaser: In the Silver Millenium lives four young princesses who's lives are forever changed by four men from Earth. In a world that teeters on the brink of chaos they manage to find sanity in love, only to have it snatched cruelly away. But these princesses are also senshi, warriors, and they will fight to the bitter end to preserve all they hold dear. Ami: First Kiss Disclaimer:I don't own Sailor Moon but some really, really wonderful people(Naoko Takeuchi and lots of others) do who won't sue a pathetic little poor person like me!*Serena wail and puppy dog eyes* And yes I know its flattery which can and will get me everywhere like hopefully out of a lawsuit. Anyway the main characters are NOT mine, just some of the minors are. If you like one and want to use them in your own fanfic fine..just mention me somewhere and don't copy the story cause that's not nice *predatory gleam*. Have fun boys and girls, comments (bad and good but keep the flames down to a simmer) can be sent to inspiredthoughts@hotmail.com Little Note: I mix Japanese and English names up a bit but I do try to stay consistent in my story. PS: I like mail! Chapter 1 Sailor Mercury stood ready in battle position. Thick blue bangs were plastered to her face, slick with sweat. Breathing heavily she readied herself to face off against Sailor Mars. Her steely aqua eyes narrowed in anticipation of the renewed fight. She saw Mars's body tense and sprang away as her fiery opponent came hurtling at her. Long heels grazed her cheek but Mercury nimbly danced away. They fought for almost another hour before an exhausted Mars finally saluted her, signaling the end of their match. "You're getting better," the raven haired warrior called, "but your left kicks are still weak." Mercury blushed slightly at the praise and finally shook her tangled hair out of her face. Mercury shaded her eyes and looked at the sun. Slightly past midday she mused to herself. "Mercury! Moon to Mercury!" "Humm? Oh sorry Mars. I was just thinking." "Big shocker there," Mars muttered glibly. "I was saying, before you wandered off, that we need to go get ready for the ball." Mercury made a face and her spurring partner laughed. "I know you hate them but this one is going to be different because..." Sailor Mercury sighed gustily. "Because representatives from Earth will be here and we must be on our guard because..." "Because not all Earth and Moon people approve of the proposed marriage between Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion, and we need to be ready for anything tonight," Mars finished, eyes flashing with a small grin. "Which means," Mercury started, "sleep, bathe, and change, not nesscarily in that order," they finished together. "Yup," said Sailor Mars. Sailor Mercury was quiet for a moment as she studied the ground. "Mars, do you think Ser-chan wants to get married to Endymion and if she does what will happen to us? We have sworn to protect her and the Moon Kingdom but what if she moves to Earth?" Sailor Mars sighed. Mercury always had a way of speaking a loud the fears she most didn't want to face. "I don't know," Mars whispered, her violet eyes far away. "but even if she doesn't want to marry him she may have to. Our universe is united save Earth. We, the Senshi, tie our planets to the moon and Endymion would do the same for the Earth as well. Ser-chan may have to do what's not best for her but the kingdom." Her voice hardened a bit. "Whether she wants to or not." "Like your mother," Mercury said softly. Sailor Mar's eyes glimmered briefly with tears but as quickly as the came they were gone. Yes, she thought sadly, like my mother. "But if they do marry I am sure we can figure something out." With a sudden smile that belied the pain Mars felt inside she grabbed Mercury's hand. "Come on, we have to start getting ready if we don't want to be late." The two warriors changed back into two harried looking princesses and dashed off towards their rooms. * * Humming to herself Ami, Princess of mercury and ice, brushed out her damp hair. Like a thing alive it curled and danced around her delicate heart shaped face. She glowered at it, for a moment almost wishing it to be straight and long like Rei's or Mina's or at least under control like Haruka's. She reached in her dresser and pulled out a hand full of small pearl clips. Face set in a grim battle mask she went to work. When she was done she checked her handiwork in the large mirror set in her dresser and smiled. She looked like she could be sister to Michiru or Sailor Neptune as she was known among the other senshi. The tiny pearls gleamed in her sapphire hair and set off the silver glints in her lighter eyes. Ami wondered briefly how her soft spoken people would react if they knew their beloved Princess Mercury was a Sailor Scout. Reflecting on how her father had handled it, not well. With a quiet grin she wished she could have been there when the other scouts informed their parents, especially Lita. Unlike the other senshi Lita, or Princess Jupiter, was an only child. Her mother had died when she was very small and her father refused to remarry because he still loved Lilly, her mother, so much. That meant that Lita was heir to the throne which interferred in her scouting duties. A scout must be willing to die to protect their charge and the Moon Kingdom but the heir to the throne must never endanger their life because the line of the throne must be assured. Ami knew this was part of the reason Lita was so boy crazy. When she got married and had children she could fully assume her role as Sailor Jupiter. She wondered briefly how the great planets' spirits chose the scouts they did to protect their planet. Ami herself had two younger siblings, twins, named Anni and Aski who were eight. Mina, Princess and Sailor Venus, had an older brother named Marcus who was twenty-one. Rei, Sailor and Princess Mars had her own twin named Rani. As for the outer Princesses/ senshi Michiru, Sailor Neptune, had two younger siblings. They were two girls named Maku, ten, and Mira, twelve. Haruka, Uranus, came from a large family made up of four older and one younger brother. They were Hanska, the current ruler of Uranus, Horu, Haja, Hakanu, and Haskanra who was the same age of Mira. Sailor Pluto had no siblings but her family line ended long ago. She had been guarding the gate since the beginning of time and such things had long ago sorted themselves out. Horatu, Saturn, had a younger brother, five, who was as bright and strong as she was dark and weak named Horsance. Ami picked up the silver framed picture of her family. Taken two years ago, before her father died, it portrayed the happy family they once were. Her mother stood in her father's loving arms and she was hugging her squealing siblings. She bit her lip in a nervous gesture that she had acquired and sighed. Anni's bright aqua hair was long flowing down her back, long bangs nearly hiding her laughing eyes. Aski's hair was a shade darker than Ami's own but was styled much the same. His mouth was smiling but she could see the deep seriousness in his eyes even then, which had become more and more prenounced after their father's death. Even her mother who had aged so much in the last two years, was untouched by grief and pain here. Ami knew her mother was dying of heartbreak. She missed her King too much and Ami recognized the fact that as soon as the twins turned sixteen, and thus the legal ruling age, they would loose her. Quickly wiping the tears from her eyes Ami resolutely stood and went to her closet. Gentle hands pulled out a silk floor length dress, the color of the tranquil summer sky. Simple and unadorned when she put it on she went from beautiful to radiant. Loose enough to allow movement is hugged her in all the right places and the light blue matched her coloring splendidly. Looking at herself in the mirror once more she felt herself blushing. Sometimes she wondered about Mina who had picked the dress out. She frowned and pulled the front up. That was just a little bit too revealing she thought to herself sternly. Perhaps I shouldn't wear this, but then she remembered Mina's delighted grin on finally getting her into a dress that fit her and looked nice and found she hadn't the heart to not wear it. With a world weary sigh Ami tucked a stray strand behind her ear and dashed out to meet the other girls. * * As Ami hurried from her room to the reception room where they rest of the Princesses had agreed to meet she glanced up at the dazzling sky. Stars that rivaled the brightest diamonds glittered under the inky blackness of night. She stopped for a moment and breathed in some of the icy air. Earth hung like a jaded jewel just over the moon's horizon. Sometimes Ami missed Mercury so much. The always perfect moon skies bothered the gentle princess. Mercury had weather of all kinds. Sometimes all she wanted to see was a gray fog billowing in off the restless sea, or a gentle shower, or even a violent storm that rattled the palace windows. She continued on her way and entered the small room. Mina, Rei, and Lita were already there so they were just missing Serenity. None of the outer senshi Princesses were attending the ball tonight. Mina smiled a bright hello, her short yellow dress making her seem even sunnier than normal. Rei's fiery red gown swept the floor like Ami's own but was a full skirt made of a darker red than her top. And set off her ebony hair. Lita's dress was tight and had a long slit down the side. It was green with brown swirls throughout it. Several minutes after Ami arrived a hyperventilating Ser-chan dashed in. She wore her simple white princess dress with a red rose tucked into on of her 'meatballs'. "Guys," she cired, blue eyes wide, "I don't wanna go tonight!" she wailed. Her lower lip trembled and Ami could see tears welling up. Lita groaned. Mina sighed and Rei growled in exasperation. "Ser-chan, its only a party," Ami said comfortingly. "Nothing is being decided tonight. You're just meeting Prince Endymion. You know your mother won't make you marry if you totally hate him. Queen Serenity isn't like that." Serenity sniffled and eyed Ami. "You think so Ami-chan?" she asked in a small voice. Ami nodded and put a friendly arm around her Princess's shoulder. Ser-chan smiled a watery smile and suddenly pouted again. "What if I like him and he doesn't like me?!" The other four looked at her for a long moment before starting to giggle. "Everyone likes you Serenity!" they laughed in unison. "Except for when you cry." The pretty Princess looked sad for several more minutes before joining in their laughter. The great grandfather clock standing against the wall chimed eight o'clock. With a gasp the four princesses grabbed Ser-chan's hand and dragged her toward the ballroom. An introduction of sorts...
