This is where the modifications got a little more involved. I installed the Clarks/Otto 4x1 carb kit. I and running 4 102HP carbs and all are running 52 jets. I still think this is a little rich and the next step is to drop to 50 jets in all 4 carbs.
With the new found power it became time to replace the old Bias Ply tires. I went with BF Goodrich Radial T/A�s 195/60-13 front and 205/60-13 in the rear. I will caution that this makes the car rev a LOT on the highway but the added cornering capabilities of the 60 series tires are worth the trade off.
The last modification I made is the installation of an Offenhauser deep sump oil pan and extended oil pump pickup. If you count the fact that the oil pan is shinny chrome, it must be good for 10-20HP. Seriously one word of caution, with the deep sump pan and the shorter tires, you need to pay attention to curbs and speed bumps and the pan will hit on occasion.
OK, so what did all of this buy me? As I stated in the beginning the baseline for performance was 15.1 seconds to 60, now in the current configuration the G-Tech shows 8.7 to 60. One more important observation is when I have the headers off the 0-60 time is 10.1. Needless to say the headers offered a big improvement in performance for me.
The car will stay in this configuration for some time. The future plan is to build a roller cam motor with 140 heads milled to accept either the 6 runner intake with a center mount 4bbl/Throttle body Fuel injection or a triple Weber setup.
