Job Description:

Provides desktop and network hardware and application support; assists in the implementation, maintenance, monitoring and development of local area network (LAN) PC systems, E-mail and peripherals; and assists in network and PC system installations, testing, and monitoring of all current hardware, software and related equipment. Responds to requests for assistance with hardware, application, or network problems, and provides explanations to users on problem resolutions, steps to implement them, and preventative measures to keep problems from recurring. Serves as a member of an Information Technology Services (ITS) team, providing network and desktop support services to customers as directed; assists in the Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrading, repair, and maintenance of LAN and desktop hardware/software and client applications in accordance with agency standards, including identification of technology problems and coordinating with other technical staff to effect solutions; and administers at least one file server, including establishing, monitoring, and maintenance of security, disk space, user Ids, and access rights. Informs the team leader and Help Desk of the status of assigned service calls, and informs the team leader promptly when unable to resolve a customer complaint. Enforces and complies with BMWs Information Technology security policies and hardware and software standards. Assists in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources. Documents procedures and technical tips and presents them to the team leader for approval and distribution.
