| Speightstown is an old port town and during the early days of sugar in the 18th and 19th Centuries, this was an important port for sugar bound for Britain. It developed a particular link with the southern port city of Bristol and became known as Little Bristol. Speightstown is named for its founder, William Speight, and is pronounced Spites-town. The town is characterised by its 18th and 19th century architecture. | ||||||||||||||||
