Various Rants and Such

11/27/99 - I won a award for my car site! Don't ask how, I just did.

10/29/99 - So, the Yankee's won the World Series........big f****in deal. The franchise has won 25 titles in all, who cares, it's not like they did it all with the same team and the same players. John Force has won the Funny Car drag racing title 9 times in 10 years......you hear any mention of him in the papers, NO! What about Steve Kinser, 15 titles in his career so far in World of Outlaws....no mention of him either. Horse racing gets more play in the paper than car racing does. Now, some sports don't get any paper space either, like bowling, and sports like that. But baseball, where a player gets to sit out a game if his thumb hurts, that's center stage. Mike Piazza, catcher for the Mets, makes the most money in baseball right now, like 90 million over 7 years or something ungodly like that, and when he hurts his thumb, he can't play..........what the hell is that. Football players break a leg or get a serious cut, they want back out to play. Steve Young, 4 concussions so far and he still wants to play. baseball, bunch of over paid sissies. Now, I'm not saying that they are all this way, some are very talented, but that small percentage is far outweighed by the over paid one's.

10/15/99 - Well, I watched the Clinton news conference the other day, well part of it, about the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. He signed it, Congress didn't pass it cause of the Republicans, and he's not happy because of it. The whole treaty is stupid anyway. We have agreed to follow it anyway even though we haven't signed it and are urging other countries to sign it. Basically saying we can't make or test new nuclear weapons. But, what good is that if, say, a country that is our enemy makes a more powerful one. Well, they haven't signed this piece of paper, but we have and so we can't do anything to counter the threat. I sometimes wonder, with this kind of thinking, how in the hell did Clinton even get in to office. Well, who cares, I became a Uncle on the 13th. My brothers wife had their first child and that just made everything better.

09/21/99 - It is really a curse to have money and a slight inclination to buy something. I have a Zip drive with my computer to store all the stuff I download and it works well. At work, we have a Jaz drive which is basically the same thing, but holds 10x more and is faster. So, I get home, get on the net, and order one. The problem is that the drive is SCSI and I don't have a SCSI port but do have a USB port. So, I buy a adapter completely forgetting that Windows NT4 doesn't support USB ports. But I do have 98 and that does. So, I'm gonna end up probably also buying a SCSI card in the end, I feel like such a ass, but then again, I wanted it so it's alright. I haven't been following the news much which is bad since alot is happening. The earthquake in Taiwan, thousands probably dead, Gorbi's wife died (sorry, I can't spell his name), my brother's wife's baby shower, I watched racing so it was cool, etc. People wonder how I can watch it but then I just wonder why people watch bowling, or golf, or horse racing...........all very pointless to watch unless your into them. I LOVE CARS so it just goes to figure I am gonna watch people race them and in turn crash them. One more thing, if you like wrestling, watch ECW, I believe they will go very far and need our support.

09/5/99 - Here is a quote that is from Saving Private Ryan that just rocks - "Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do and die."

09/1/99 - I just recently discovered the joy of FTP programs. I use CuteFTP at work and have discovered just how easy it is. I used to log into Geocitites and that was just cumbersome. I am so far behind the times with computer programs and software it's sick. FTP programs have been out for about 5 years or more and I just now realize how good they are. Well, I got nothing else on this subject, oh well. News has been slow, earthquakes, MIR being abandoned, civil war, etc. Not much to talk about.

08/21/99 - Well, I'm back. My new job is great, it takes alot of energy out of me but I'm happy so that's what counts. I have recently discovered how tough it is to talk to someone about something that I just don't understand. I have a close friend who lives far away from me and she is going through some tough times. I try as best I can to be there for her whenever she has time to talk, but it's hard. The things she is going through are bad and I, having lived a kinda sheltered life, comparatively, have a hard time cooping with some of them without trying to get involved which would make things worse. I know my English sux but I don't care, I know what I'm trying to say.

07/30/99 - Well, I haven't had much to rave about lately. News has been kinda slow lately after the JFK thing. Granted there were 14 farmers killed in Kosovo and some guy went nuts and killed his family and 9 people in Atlanta cause he lost money day trading, but I still don't have anything to rant about. It's kinda sad, but what do ya want from me. I finally got a job and that's taking up my time, also it's been stupid hot here.

07/17/99 - JFK Jr. vanishes while flying to Martha's Vineyard, all the networks cover it and cancel everything else. He is probably dead already and it makes me sick that we have to suffer with all this coverage. It may be sad that he dies, but people get lost all the time, be it by crashes at sea or whatever and no one else gets attention like this. The only reason he is so popular is because his dad got shot in the head in public. I can see no other reason why we would be forced to get all this coverage. Makes me want to vomit in terror.

07/15/99 - It's amazing how much fun it is to still buy toys. I went shopping yesterday and bought a Papa Smurf doll and I was like flying high. I was so excited to find it sitting there. It looked like it was hiding in a stock room for awhile or something, but I grabbed it and now it's all mine. Life is good.

Here is another reason why our society is screwed up, for one reason or another. A 15 year old kid was playing with his 8 year old neighbor, baseball or something. He, the 15 year old, hit her with a baseball in the face, probably by accident and she started to cry. He freaks out at her, drags her somewhere, hits her with a baseball bat, stabs her like 8-9 times in her chest and neck, then hides the body. He brought her body to his room, put it under his waterbed, taped up the bottom so the smell wouldn't escape while she rotted, and slept there. He helped search for her when she was reported missing, he taped her wanted poster on his headboard and even sat on that bed while the police interviewed him. He was just convicted of first degree murder, which is good, but they were trying to bring it down because they say it wasn't premeditated. Now, tell me, is that sick or what?

Metallica had a video some years back for their song "One". They used video clips from a movie that have stuck in my mind. Doing some research on the net the other night, I found it was from a movie called "Johnny Got His Gun". The movie is out of print and based on a book of the same name. I was saddened that I could not find the movie to buy it but did buy the book from Amazon.com. I'm not big into books but HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. It's about a man who, in WW1, is injured in such a horrific way so as he is only left with his thoughts and nothing else. It's a very disturbing look at what war can do.

When the US and United Nations decided to go to war with Yugoslavia over a internal civil war, I was a bit disturbed. I thought about it and wondered why we were going into a European conflict when there are a number of countries in Africa that are currently engaged in civil war and we don't seem to care. As soon as some nation in Europe gets into trouble, we go over and attack like it will be WW2 if we don't. That was one of Clinton's reasons for the air strikes. Now, granted, Milosivic's armies did apparently kill, pillage, and rape all of Kosovo, but these same things are happening in African countries, and with alot higher body counts. I just don't understand I guess. Maybe if I was in politics and being paid off to turn the other way, I would understand how the world works. A good friend of mine was betrayed over money and I just don't value it much anymore.

This is probably going to get some people angry, especially people in my family, if they read this. I have been doing alot of thinking about religion of the past couple of years. I'm Roman Catholic and, at this point, only go to church on Christmas and Easter, so I don't practice all that much. I have started to waver on my faith due to lack of belief. One thing that annoys me alot is when people talk about people having to worship Jesus, the "son of God", because he died for our sins. Now, I know this will sound selfish, but so what? If I gathered up 12 people, took them around with me wherever I go, make them believe I did all sorts of miracles, break the law, get caught, and then tell everyone that I am dying for them before they kill me, people would think I was insane. But, this is not the case for some reason. Just because he decided to die instead of fight back for himself doesn't make me want to worship him....sorry.

I don't play computer games that often anymore, but I do sometimes. I like 3 types, RPG's, Shooters, and Driving games. The RPG's take up time, the Shooters release aggression, and the Driving games are mainly cause I love cars, and their fun. I started with NASCAR racing and loved it. Recently I got into Viper Racing and Test Drive 5, cool games. I know it's not really a rant, but so what, it's my page, I'll do what I want to.

I have been trying to figure out what it is about a skunks spray that makes it stay in the air for so long and still remain strong. Most scents dissipate once it spreads out, but not a skunks. I surfed the net and found that scientists can't even figure out what the scent is made of. This bothers me a bit. If they can decode the genetic makeup of a worm why can't they figure out what makes up a skinks scent? Things are weird in this world.

I'm a fan of wrestling and there has been various press about it lately after Owen Hart fell to his death in front of alot of people. He was going to be lowered into the ring from the rafters and something went wrong and he fell. We all know that it's basically staged fighting but some of the moves are just painful by nature. Many have spoken out that it has become more involved with stories than the actual wrestling. To this I say, so what? I am saddened that Owen died and all but I don't think that the "sport" should change. The fans are what drive the sport, if they didn't want the story lines and wanted to see strictly wrestling, they wouldn't pay to see it. Some companies are a bit more extreme than others. WWF is a bit raunchier than the WCW which is more low key. ECW is, as it name says, Extreme. They are total hardcore and it will be interesting to see what happens when they come to TNN.

I have recently fallen in love with RollerJam. No one in my family can understand it but I love it. It's like wrestling on roller skates and it involves some really hot woman, how can ya go wrong. Well, ya can't in my book. Woohoo!

Right after the Columbine High shooting, I saw a news editorial that annoyed me alot. As always, they decided to label this latest generation of kids and blame it on that.....they called it Generation Y. Now, the last generation was X and I didn't feel like that included me. So, does that mean I'm in Generation W? But then what happens when they run out of letters? Will it be Generation A1? I don't want to live to see a classification be placed upon kids that's named after a steak sauce, sorry.

Star Wars Episode 1 : Great movie but I wasn't going to go see it at first. Before the movie came out, all the hype and stories about it were driving me nuts. I was going to rebel and not go even though the Star Wars series was a part of my generation. I waited and finally went during the day after it had died down, it was worth it, but Jar Jar has to go.

I've been keeping up with the Kosovo thing for awhile now and some of the recent events are kind of disturbing. While they were negotiating a peace Yugoslavia wanted us to protect their troops while they pulled out so they didn't get attacked by the KLA. Now, the Yugoslav forces entered Kosovo, killed, looted, and licked out the residents. Now that we bombed them into submission, they want us to protect them?!?!!? I just don't understand it.
