The Oriflamme Chain
An Oriflamme's a noble thing-
   A noble thought, a great reward;
Rewards awarded to the king,
   Or kingly presents to a lord.

You shall not lord it over them,
   They waved this banner true for you.
Your battle's fought: your strategem
   Did dream to show this symbol new.

Your newly born, and great success
   Succeeds you, now you ponder; see
If seeing makes exaltedness
   Exalt inferiority.

Inferior you may not be-
   Beware! Learn from this epigram,
Lest epic loss of royalty
   Thwart royally an Oriflamme.                     1/16/2000

The Heathen Don't Believe Me Anymore
The heathen don't believe me anymore.
   I once retained a spotless record of
My deeds, but now it's tarnished and no more
   Will lost ones listen to my cries of Love.

But what if God should quicken them, what then?
   It would not matter in the least, that I,
A poor transmitter of God's word to men
   Am also not completely sanctified.

I know that God can easily break down
   The barriers we futilely set up
To isolate ourselves. For lo! He'll crown
   The poorest efforts: we will drink His cup!

So do not think the Lord is far behind;
   We simply don't know all that's on His mind.
Psalm 1
O blessed is the man who walks not in
   The counsels of the wicked, does not stand
In paths of sinners, does not sit within
   The seat of scorners. He delights in, and

He meditates in God's eternal laws;
   He fails not in his duty day or night.
He shall be like the tree which always draws
   Its water from the freely flowing flight

Of rivers it was planted nigh. This tree
   Will bear its fruit in perfect time,
Its leaves will never wither; this man - see
   That all the work he does, for his lifetime,

Will always prosper. But the wicked are
   Not so, see - they are like the chaff which wind
Will drive away. Therefore the wicked, e'en so far
   As judgement, will not stand; nor those who sinned

Take places in the host of righteousness.
   The Lord knows well the way of righteous men,
But wicked ways, and all unholiness,
   Will perish. And God's people said, "Amen."
