"SURPRISE" NEXT
BACK
[Buffy's house. Buffy opens the door to the bathroom and steps into the Bronze. Willow waves to Buffy from one of the tables]
WILLOW: [in french] The hippo stole his pants.
[Willow waves at Buffy. Buffy waves back. Buffy walks on and comes to her mother]
JOYCE: Do you really think you're ready, Buffy?
BUFFY: What?

[Joyce drops plate and it shatters. Joyces stares blankly and walks away. Buffy walks on. Crowd parts to reveal Angel. They walk towards each other. Drusilla appears behind Angel and stabs him in the back]
BUFFY: Angel!
[Angel explodes into dust]
DRUSILLA: Happy birthday, Buffy.
[Buffy bolts upright in bed]

[Angel's apartment. Knock at door]
BUFFY: Angel?
ANGEL: Hold on.
[opens door] Hey, I... everything okay?
BUFFY: That's what I was going to ask you. You're okay, right?
ANGEL: Sure. I'm fine. What's up?
[Buffy walks in]
BUFFY: I had a this dream that Drusilla was alive.
ANGEL: What happened?
BUFFY: She killed you. Right in front of me.
ANGEL: It was just a dream. It wasn't real.
BUFFY: It felt so real.
ANGEL: It wasn't. I'm right here.
BUFFY: Angel, this happened before. The dreams that I had about the Master. They came true.
ANGEL: Still, not every dream you have comes true. I mean, what else did you dream last night? Can you remember?
BUFFY: I dreamed that Giles and I opened an office supply warehouse in Vegas.
ANGEL: You see my point.
BUFFY: Yeah, I do. But what if Drusilla is alive? I mean, we never saw her body.
[Angel embraces Buffy]
ANGEL: She's not. But even if she was, we'd deal.
BUFFY: But what if she
-
[Angel kisses Buffy]

ANGEL: What if what?
BUFFY: I'm sorry. Were we talking?
[Buffy and Angel kiss]
BUFFY: I'm sorry, I ... I have to go to school.
ANGEL: I know.
[Buffy and Angel kiss]
BUFFY: Oh, God, you feel -
ANGEL: You have to go to school.
BUFFY: All right. This is me. I'm going.
[Buffy and Angel kiss]
ANGEL: You still haven't told me what you want for your birthday.
BUFFY: Surprize me.
ANGEL: Okay.
[Buffy and Angel kiss]
BUFFY: This is nice. I like seeing you first thing in the morning.
ANGEL: It's bedtime for me.
BUFFY: Then I like seeing you at bedtime... I - you know what I mean...
ANGEL: I think so... What do you mean?
BUFFY: I like seeing you. And the part at the end of the night where we say goodbye, it's getting harder.
ANGEL: Yeah. It is.

[Sunnydale High campus]
WILLOW:  'I like seeing you at bedtime?'  You actually said that?
BUFFY: I know. I know.
WILLOW: Man. That's like... I don't know. That's moxie or something!
BUFFY: Totally unplanned. It just came out.
WILLOW: And he was into it? He wants to see you at bedtime too?
BUFFY: Yeah, I think he does. I mean, he's cool about it.
WILLOW: Well, of course he is. 'Cause he's cool. He would never, you know -
BUFFY: Push.
WILLOW: Right. He's not the type.
BUFFY: Willow, what am I going to do?
WILLOW: What do you want to do?
BUFFY: I don't know.
[Buffy and Willow sit down]
BUFFY: I mean, want isn't always the right thing to do. To act on want can be wrong.
WILLOW: True.
BUFFY: But to not act on want... What if I never feel this way again?
WILLOW:
Carpe diem. You told me that once.
BUFFY: Fish of the day?
WILLOW: Not carp.
Carpe. It means 'seize the day'.
BUFFY: Right. I think we're going to. To seize it. Once you get to a certain point, then seizing is sort of inevitable.
WILLOW: Wow.
BUFFY: Yeah.
WILLOW: Wow.
[school bell rings. Buffy and Willow get up and walk]
WILLOW: Wow..... Wow.
BUFFY: Yeah... Hey, speaking of wow potential, there's Oz over there. What are we thinking? Any sparkage?
WILLOW: He's nice. I like his hands.
BUFFY: Ooh, fixing on insignificant details is a definate crush sign.
WILLOW: I don't know though. I mean, he
is a senior.
BUFFY: You think he's too old 'cause he's a senior? Please. My boyfriend had a bicentennial.
