Summary:  A blood-borne virus that takes drastic effect within seconds escapes a British lab.  The effect is that the infected is locked into a permanent state of murderous rage.  These infected attack without hesitation,  biting and vomitting blood on its victims and thus the infection is spread rapidly.  Within 28 days, the virus has killed or infected so many there is only a handful of suvivors left who must try and survive this terrifing new world.
Jim (Cillian Murphy) awakes in a deserted hospital out of a coma 28 days after the infection escaped.  He finds the streets of London to be completely deserted, although he does soon find four survivors, Selena, Mark, Frank and his daughter Hannah.  Jim and his companions go to Manchester where they here the uninfected are gathering, but find more trouble than just zombies.

Trivia:
The exteriors of the streets of London were shot in the early hours of the morning on weekdays.  The crew only had a couple of minutes each day, and the crew members had to politely ask clubbers not to walk onto the streets.  (MORE TRIVIA)
