The New House Part II, Page 2
We visited again on 17 August and the roof was finished, the electricians were running all the wires in and we had a bath.
We have been visiting every week to see the improvements, however, they have been a bit slow due to the rain and us giving them the contract money. As such we can now sum up the last 6 weeks as follows:
We have exchanged contracts, we own the house, but we have only paid 5% of the price. The roof is finished, the eaves and exterior walls are painted, as well as the interior. Tiling has been completed in the bathroom, toilet, laundry and ensuite, and the showers and mirrors have just been installed. We also have an installed kitchen and lights. Finally, we have concrete for the driveway and we have our columns installed.....
The house finally did get finished in November 01, just after Keira arrived. We had some issues with settlement, but in the end it was ours! The builder, sly dog, is still to finish some smaller problems, and we do not envisage them ever getting done.
Over Summer 01/02 we did manage to finish up most of the house, get some tenants in, and landscape the lawns. On a weekend trip passing through Canberra in Easter 02, we also dropped in to do some gardening and plant the flower beds. It now looks lovely and has appreciated in value quite substantially (it's increased value paid 20% of our place in Townsville).
