Hi! Mein erster Versuch, News zu posten.

KP-omer sent me a mail about a LAN party:

Hallo!

Von vielen gefordert, nun ist es endlich soweit: fetznerken kommt wieder. Diesmal soll es allerdings im beschaulichen Rahmen bleiben, wir dachten dabei an ca. 40 Leute.

Steigen soll das Ganze am Wochenende des 31.01.2003 im Haus der Jugend im Walter-Flex-Weg in Wolfsburg. Los gehts am Freitag gegen 16 Uhr. Enden wird das Ganze vorraussichtlich am Sonntag um ca. 16 Uhr, was für dich 48 Stunden Spielspaß bedeutet.

Wie in den guten alten Zeiten gibt es keine Turnier oder sonstigen Schnickschnack. Das ganze kostet 6 EUR pro Person, die Bezahlung erfolgt im Voraus per Überweisung. Was wir von dem Eintrittsgeld nicht ausgeben wird auf der Party in Form von Freigetränken zurückgezahlt.

Anmelden kannst du Dich ab sofort per Email an [email protected] . Die Email sollte deinen vollständigen Namen, dein Geburtsdatum, deine Anschrift und deine Emailadresse enthalten. Anmelden kann sich jeder der mindestens 16 Jahre alt ist. Du bekommst dann so schnell wie möglich von uns eine Anmeldebestätigung mit weiteren Informationen.

6€ is a pretty good deal for 48 hours. I don't know if Battlefields will be played but it might be worth it to show up in KP style. Mail me if you want to go.

In the BF-Nation forums I have read that DirextX 9 is available for downloading at this link. Mircosoft's DirextX web sites says that 8.1b is still the most current version but the people that are downloading this Dx build are saying that it is not a beta. No one has said anything about improving gameplay but someone did say the explosions look cooler.

Well I came into work today hoping to tell the Clan about the new map and to say that we'll have it up on the server today so that we could try it out but NO!!! I read this on Vehicular Havoc:

So I apologize for the BF1942 map news post, as the official site has not gotten an update today about the supposed new map..but just so everyone knows, this news item was NOT falsely publicized, there was truth to it..the email sent to me from a certain person at EA reads as follows:

You did not hear this from me. I did not send this information to you. We're going to be making an announce on the official BF 1942 web site this tomorrow (Thursday) regarding a new (free) BF 1942 map. So tell your visitors to keep an eye on the site for further information.

I guess that good news is always followed by bad news. I just got a mail from KP-stoni(The Server Guy) with the results from a 24 hour server test. The server ran but "Traffic Controller" said:

and to quote KP-stoni:"These are 2.5GB and 17.000 different hosts!!!!!! I think, if I do this every night, I`ll get in serious trouble."

I think so too. This is not good because we don't pay for the server or the traffic. We are think about what we are going to do (ex. We might just have to use the server for Clan members only) and hope to have an update for you soon.

I just received word from a very reliable source at EA that they will be releasing a NEW FREE MAP tomorrow. (THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2002) KEEP your eyes glued to the Official Site or here for more info..

That means today!! I wonder if it will work with the LINUX server?

We would like to welcome or newest member
KP-omer. He has played mostly RTS games and Counter Strike (we forgive you omer... you have started down the path that leads the to light side of the force). He will be put on the inactive list until he BUYS the game. :)

We have downloaded the LINUX beta server update 2 and after installing where able to run a game for about 4 hours with out crashing. We just need to look and see how much traffic the server creates before we can decide if we want to run the server all the time or if we want to run it at a certain time.

We used a program called Traffic-Contorller(yea baby!! show me the traffic!!)and after we figured out how to use it we where able to get a small idea of how much traffic the server was producing. More on this later.

We have also updated the server page.

Most of the hyperlinks should work now. If someone finds something then they sould drop us a mail. The script errors are a Geocites thing and not from us...

If anyone wants to make a logo for us mail us.

We have updated the webpage with a new design. Hope you like. We didn't design it thought... the Credit goes to clouser...

Most of the links don't work and we don't have our new logo yet but I want to so it off to the other KP-members and the rest of the internet. It will be fully functional tommrow.

Another note: IRC is back... you can leave messages with KP-botFly until KP-stoni can start up KP-admin again.

Linux Dedicated Server

As kook from BF Central has reported, the BF1942 community can look forward to a new milestone after v1.2 in the near future. He posted that a public beta of the linux dedicated server should be released soon.

BF LINUX SERVER IS GOING TO BE IN PUBLIC BETA SOON.
"I sent a beta candidate of the bf1942 server to EA last night. As soon as they give thumbs up, we'll start the public beta test. No idea how long this will take, but as soon as I have confirmation, I'll post it here. --ryan."

This is good news for the KP-Clan and for everyone else too... Looks like the server will be up soon... We will make it public at first to try to get some new clan members and then we'll password it when we need it to pratice. BTW I found this on BF1942.com.
