| Amiboshi & Suboshi The Gay Incestuous Twins |
| Yes, dammit, you heard me: gay incestuous twins. No, dammit, I'm not a sicko. However, I'd just like to make it clear right now that I'm NOT trying to make you believe that Amiboshi and Suboshi are incestuous twins. All of this is merely speculation. Oh, sure, the idea of incest is disgusting in today's society, much less gay incest, but hey, this is manga we're talking about. YUU WATASE's manga. Besides, the idea of there being anything between the boshi twins is, once again, merely pure speculation on my part (and many others), though Yuu Watase-sensei sure has provided much proof (gawd, so much proof). When the boshi twins are mentioned, you can't help but wonder at their relationship to each other. Many people actually like this pairing, not because they're sickos, but because they, like me, like the idea of soul mates, which is basically what a sharing of soul is. Don't be so surprised at this. Don't tell me you haven't noticed that the relationship between Ami and Su is much too close than normal twins. If you do I will just shove a dozen pounds of evidence in your face. People say that when two people share the same soul, they're soul mates, destined to be together forever. People also say (or used to) that twins share one soul, so doesn't that make the Boshi twins soul mates? And the fact that soul mates mean two people who love each other from the bottom of their hearts and are destined to be together is plenty proof that Amiboshi and Suboshi love each other more than normal twins should. Sure, maybe that's not normal, but they're both Seiryuu Shichiseishi, which definitely makes them out of the norm. The gay incestuous situation rather reminds me of Setsuna and Sara from Angel Sanctuary. They were definitely not related in their previous lives, but for some reason, they were born as brother and sister, and they're in love... If the idea of gay incest really bugs you, you can try to think about Amiboshi and Suboshi in this way: they're really just soul mates that happened to be born into the same family in that particular life as the Seiryuu seishi. And if the "gay" part still bothers you, then it's really not hard to just imagine Amiboshi as a girl, because he's gentle enough. He'd definitely make a good girl. Hey, you never know, maybe Amiboshi was really supposed to be a girl and just happened to be born into a boy's body in that particular life? So, now that you've accepted the fact that Amiboshi and Suboshi are, or could very well possibly be, gay incestuous twins, maybe you'd challenge the belief that they could be in love? "Suboshi loves Yui." You'd tell me, or "Amiboshi likes Miaka." You'd say, or you could just scream outright at me, "THAT'S HORRIBLY SICK!!" Well, to the last part, I say, "Didn't you read any of the paragraphs above?" and then kick you out. Yes, Suboshi did have a (sickenly stupid) crush on Yui, but I've seen both the anime and the manga, and I say it was nothing more than a crush. Suboshi probably felt attached to Yui because she comforted him after he "lost" his aniki, but no matter how I look at it, it always seemed like Yui was mothering Suboshi and Suboshi was just feeling appreciated from all the motherly attention. Need I remind you that the poor boshi twins were orphans? No, of course not. So anyway, Suboshi might have mistaken his feelings for love, because, after all, it was his first time to fall in love with a girl. Besides, Suboshi shed more tears for his aniki than he ever did for Yui. I am willing to admit, however, that Yui is probably the second most important person to Suboshi. Amiboshi is, of course, the first. "But Suboshi gave up Amiboshi to be with Yui" you might say. Well, I say that people do pretty stupid things for first love, especially puppy love. Besides, Suboshi could always go back and find Amiboshi again, while Yui came from another world. Have I shut you up yet? Oh yes, the matter with Amiboshi and Miaka... Amiboshi is a naturally kind and sweet person. There's no reason why he shouldn't like Miaka. Yes, I know that everyone hates Miaka, but you've got to give it to her, she really is rather sweet and forgiving, even if she's extremely mull-headed. Amiboshi was touched by her trust, and sought to protect her from the harshness of war, which an innocent girl like Miaka should definitely NOT be exposed to. And no, he did not KISS her, but saved her from a fever. Remember that Amiboshi controls his ki through his mouth. He had to give Miaka his ki somehow, and one of the most common ways (in books) to bring down a person's fever is to take your clothes off and get into bed with them (supposedly to warm them with your own body heat; kids, don't try this at home...). No, I'm not kidding. This scene has been used and overused by countless authors and mangakas and fanfic writers. So, yeah, I admit Amiboshi likes Miaka, but I'm not willing to admit that he LIKE liked her. Half the males in the series fall in love with her already anyways, I don't see why someone as intelligent as Amiboshi should have to suffer the same fate. |
