| Hints in the Music |
| Ever heard "Wild Wind" (Kurama, Hiei, Yu Yu Hakusho), or "Aoi Jiyuu Shiroi Nozomi" (Chichiri, Tasuki, Fushigi Yuugi), or "Cool Moon" (Touma, Seiji, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors)? Well, actually, I don't expect that you've heard the last one, that song is damn hard to find. Well, these three all have one thing in common: they're all duets (duh) and they're all sung by characters who are generally considered to be shonen ai couples! There are hints in the music (hence the title of this page) that can't be ignored. It's blatantly obvious that no one else in these three series sing duets together, not even given couples like Yusuke and Keiko (YYH) or Miaka and Tamahome (God, I hope not!!), or even implied couples like Kuwabara and Yukina (Imagine the horrors of Kuwabara's voice...). People ask for proof, and here it is! You may wonder at the strange, but increasingly popular couple Chichiri and Tasuki. You may wonder: what is there to support the fact that they can make a reasonable couple? Certainly, if you've only watched the anime alone, you may not find much, however, if you look deeper, and a little closer, you'll find plenty of things to support this couple (one of my personal favorites). If you're interested in the reasons, you can check out my proofs pages once I put them up. However, I digress. You can look through all the FY soundtracks, and you'll not find another duet! The fact that Chichiri and Tasuki's song "Aoi Jiyuu Shiroi Nozomi" is the only duet should already tell you something. Their voices blend so well together, and the melody has the slightest touch of nostalgia to it, which is a must-have for any love song. However, I'm sorry to disappoint by saying that it isn't a love song. I've read the translated lyrics, and I'll put them up once I make a lyrics page. This next couple, Kurama and Hiei, is my first yaoi couple that I've ever liked! These two were what got me into yaoi, so you could say they were my inspiration couple, and I was delighted to find that they sang a song together (that was, what, like three years ago...). It's called "Wild Wind" and it's a fast-paced, exciting song which goes well with their life as youkai. If you weren't a fan of K and H before (how can you not be? About 99% of YYH yaoi fans are!), listen to this song and you will understand why people are so crazy about Kurama and Hiei. You can almost hear the passion in the song... This couple is in fact, a given, amongst the adamant fans of YYH, and if you've ever read the manga, you'll notice how extremely well Yoshihiro Togasi-sensei implies the more-than-friends relationship between Kurama and Hiei. Anyway, "Wild Wind" is a great song. I'm not quite sure of what the lyrics say, but I think I heard "...fighting to dream..." somewhere along the way, so maybe that implies that the two are fighting to dream about their love together? *grin* okay I know I'm just making up things there, but hey, it's what popped into my head when I heard this song. Ahh... Touma and Seiji... such a sweet couple... When I first watched YST/RW two years ago, those two were so obvious a couple they practically jumped outta the screen at me. Recently(yesterday, actually), I discovered that these two had an image song called "Cool Moon". This is perhaps the best example of all, because of the contents of the lyrics. Listen to this: "Gazing at a transparent moon, my heart calls for someone..." there's more, but I'm not giving away too much at a time. Suffice it to say that after having read the translated lyrics of this song, I can assure you that it is definitely a love song! And who's singing it together? Touma and Seiji! You can look in my links page for the place to DL the song, once the links page is up. There will be more, I promise, but the next time you listen to any of these songs, or any other bishonen duet, for that matter, think about what it all means and whether or not the two bishonen in question do in fact make a good couple or not. Ja ne, or go read my next piece of randomness. |
