Digimon 1/2: Adventures Through Time and Space
Part 8
By Keiko
The sky was clear, with no sign of the storm that had left the entire Jusenkyo valley flooded.  Taichi glared at the silent waters in front of him, cursing the Cursed Springs in his mind.  "Hey," he turned towards the voice "don't fall in-" As if on cue, Taichi slipped on a puddle and lost his balance, flailing his arms precariously as he leaned more and more over the cliff.  Agumon darted toward him, pulling him back just in time, but falling into the water himself.  He resurfaced quickly, sputtering water and staying afloat as best as he could.  Taichi stared at his digimon partner as he realized something he and the others had missed before.  "Hey, how come our digimons aren't affected by the curse?"
Koushiro pondered this for a moment.  "My guess is that since they're from a totally different world, and aren't human, they probably aren't affected by the same rules that turns us into what we are."
Palmon pulled Agumon from the water, and the Digidestineds set out for Japan, waving good-bye to the tour-guide.  The man had kindly provided them with traveling necessities, and some money to get them started on their way.
Navigating themselves around China wasn't hard, but staying out of trouble was, as the Digidestineds were about to find out.  As they approached a small village near the Jusenkyo valley, Taichi had the oh-so-bright idea to stop and ask for directions.  Little did they know that this was the very same village where Ranma had defeated Shampoo a few years ago: the Amazon village.
Meanwhile, back at the tour guide's cottage, the tour guide's eyes widened, "Oh no, I forgot to tell them about Amazon village..."  He grabbed his coat and hurried to catch up with the long gone Digidestineds.

The village was empty of people as the group walked in.  Hearing cheering noises coming from the center of the town, the group headed that way.  The sight that greeted them was absolutely stunning: a great big table heaped with all kinds of food imaginable as well as jewels and riches that could put a king's treasury to shame.  The table was piled so high that no one could see what was behind it.  Taichi's eyes widened and he took a step forward.  Yamato grabbed him before he could jump into the food, "What're you doing?!" he hissed, "that's not for you!"  Unfortunately, while he was preoccupied with Taichi, all the digimon had dug into the pile of food with a zeal that would have matched the season 2 digimon.  Seeing the irreparable damage their digimon had done already, Yamato shrugged before setting Taichi loose on the food.  The rest of the digidestineds joined in as they scarfed down almost all the food on the table.  Growing children and digimon did need food, after all.
As the food gradually disappeared, they found they could finally see to the other side.  What they saw was almost as impressive as the table of food and jewels: women, strong-looking women, were gathered around a fighting ring, cheering on the two figures within the circle.  There was a large muscle-bound female holding a long wicked-looking spear, and was thrusting it swiftly at a younger, more slender girl, who was dodging every attack with ease, making the fight seem almost like child's play.  Right before their very eyes, the girl jumped into the air and dealt a blow to the woman's chest, knocking her to the ground unconscious.  The air erupted with cheers as the audience clapped and whistled.  The young girl looked smug as she stepped onto a platform and began to speak in a foreign language.
"What do you think theyre saying?" Taichi whispered.
"I think she just won a competition of some sorts." Koushiro replied.
"Ahh, there you are!"  A voice exclaimed from behind them.  Everyone turned around to see the tour guide hurrying up to them.  To their surprise, he grabbed them and started to tug them away in the opposite direction.  "Hurry, you must not meet Amazons!" he cast a look of terror behind him, "They not like strangers!  Oh, by the way, you did not eat food, did you?"
     "Um..."
The tour guide paled as a female voice shouted angrily behind them.  "Uh oh... they see you..."
The young Amazon who'd won the competition before marched up to them, a horde of mean-looking women behind her.  She shouted something, looking very pissed off.
"She say you ate her award food.." the tour guide translated.
The girl gestured impatiently and spoke rapidly to the tour guide, who gulped and replied.  Without warning, he snatched a pot of hot water out of nowhere and poured it over Taichi.
Taichi let out a wail.  The tour guide then said something else to the Amazon, and a look of reluctant understanding came over her face.  Turning to Taichi, she asked in broken Japanese, "You fall in Spring of Drowned Girl?"
Disclaimers, blah blah.  I wish I owned Digimon, so I could twist the ending around, but I don't.  It belongs to Toei and who knows who else.

And the fun continues...
Keiko's rants: And the plot thickens... not really.
