This ep opens with the "Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters" sign on the gates of the institute. It is nightfall. A small camera thingie opens up. Three silhouettes, with the shape of their heads obviously deformed, are sneaking in.

*Kitty is somewhere underground the destroyed institute, yawning and walking to the 'kitchen'.

*Quick closer shot of the three shadows.

*Kitty is sitting by the table, eating pepperoni pizza and drinks from a 1 or 2 gallon of milk. As she does, Kurt appears and snatches the milk.

Kurt: I knew it! You drink right from the carton.
Kitty: Kurt! I, well, uh...was gonna finish the whole thing...
Kurt: Okay, then. Drink up. (looks at the gallon of milk) Just about a half a gallon left.
Kitty: (groans) Oh, hey! Intruders! (Kitty sees the mini tv screens behind Kurt and points)
Kurt: Nice try. Nothing behind me, but a wall. (turns around, his eyes widens) Is that the Brotherhood?
Kitty: (stands up) C'mon, let's chase'em off before they trip an alarm and wake everybody up.

They teleport above and split up.

*Another quick view of the three.

Kitty phases through a colorful wall and says," Aha!" The three turn around to face her slowly, and Kitty gasps.

The scene continues from where it left off. If you look carefully at the three, one person is wearing a Bayville letterman jacket, and another is wearing a football jersey. Anyways, Kurt appears behind them and jumps on them. Kitty and Kurt keep 'fighting' them until Kurt takes off one guy's mask. They're Duncan's goons.

Kurt: Who sent you?

One mutters, "Don't hurt us.."

Kitty: What're you doing here? (then sees a can of paint spray thing on the ground. She looks around and sees the 'colorful' wall behind her. It's filled with ugly drawing of the X-Men and the words "freaks" and other offending words. She sighs, "I don't believe this."

Kurt: (throws the mask on the ground) You better take off now>!

The three get up and run away yelling stuff like, "You're all freaks!" & "Yeah! Bayville doesn't want you!" & "Nobody wants you!" and laughing. Kurt and Kitty look sadly at the running teens.

Kitty: Oh, things were much simpler when only the Brotherhood hated us.

It's now daylight, and you can see the rebuilding of the Institute. Jubilee's parent's are there with a white car. Everyone looks kinda sad. It seems that Jubilee's leaving. Her things are loaded to the trunk, and as the car drives away, Jubilee looks back at the professor & Logan sadly.

Logan: First Rahne, now Jubilee. (sighs) I can�t believe parents are pullin� their kids outta here. Do they really think it�ll be better for `em at home?
Prof X: I hate to admit it, Logan. But I would probably do the same thing. After all, I promised them their children would be safe here. Obviously, that hasn�t been the case.
Logan: This is my fault. I shoulda caught Mystique�s scent when she was here posin� as you.
Prof X: And I should�ve sensed her in Wanda�s room when she abducted me. The fact is, with her advanced shape-shifting abilities, she�s now able to conceal herself completely from us.
Logan: Yeah, well, I still shouda known. (walks away) I�m goin� for a ride, Charles.

**

The scene changes to the underground place below the mansion. It�s early morning. Xavier is using his telepathy and wakes the students up.

Prof X: Attention, everyone, the younger students are scheduled for breakfast first. The rest, please meet me in sub-level 7.

The students get out of the small rooms. They�re in their jammies. It seems that Scott is sharing a room with Kurt, since he�s covered with� blue fur. Jamie multiplies�

Rogue: I cannot wait until the new institute�s finished upstairs. It�s way too crowded in here.

*One of the Jamies shrugs.

**The original X-Men & the professor are sitting around a rectangular table, in sub-level 7. The students are wearing their 3rd season outfits, which I personally think are really cool^ ^

Prof X: Good news, the school board has agreed to let you attend your classes today�provided no one uses their powers.
Scott: Just today?
Prof X: Yes, because tonight they�ll be voting whether or not to impose a permanent mutant ban. You can see how important it is to be on your best behavior.
Kitty: Professor, I�m�I'm afraid to go back there. We don�t fit in anymore.
Prof X: It won�t be easy at first, Kitty. But eventually you will be accepted, for all that you are. (raises a newspaper. On the front page is a big picture of Beast & Jean battling the Sentinel. The headline: �Monsters� Among Us?)
Evan: (stands up. It�s clear he�s very angry) Aw, man. So we�re still monsters? What is with that?
Prof X: Evan, despite what they call us, we are people. It�s time to remind them of it.
Evan: You know, if they don�t like us, that�s their problem. (sits back on chair)
Prof X: (lays down newspaper) Evan, what I�m just trying to say is, let's just not give them a reason to fear us.

Kurt gets on the table and takes the newspaper, then walks to the other end of the table, reading the paper.

Kurt: Hey, they named me �identity unknown�.
Kitty: Yeah, look, (points at a picture of Kurt) all their pictures they have of you are blue and furry.
Kurt: That means�no one has made a connection it�s me.
Scott: (puts a hand on Kurt�s shoulder and chuckles) Yet. They will, Kurt. Especially the people who know you live here.
Kurt: Yeah�but�but�.(sighs sadly) you�re right. They�ll figure it out.
Prof X: I�d like you all to be at tonight�s school board meeting. Let them look you in the faces when they vote�so they can see the people behind the powers. Now, go make the best of your first day back.

**Bayville High. Everybody�s talking & chitchatting normally. Then they begin to whisper when they see the X-Men coming. They move away, forming a path for them. Scott leads the way, followed by Jean and the others.

Students: Shhh!
Some guy: Go home!
Some girl with an annoying voice: You don't belong here!
Another guy: You gonna blow up our school next?

Evan looks mad. Scott puts a hand on his shoulder (he does that a lot doesn�t he?)

Scott: Ride it out, Evan. Evan: Yeah. Right.

Kitty: Where�d Kurt go? He was just here� (gets mad as she sees Kurt with in his human form, trying to blend in with the normal students. Kurt shrugs.)

Jean is now leading the way. As Scott climbs the front steps, he sees Taryn with her friends. He looks at her. She sinks back, and doesn�t meet his eye. Scott frowns. Then, he continues walking.

Jean is met by Duncan.


Duncan: Jean, I want you to know this doesn�t change anything.
Jean: (surprised) It doesn�t?
Duncan: Of course not. (takes Jean�s hand) I�m willing to overlook your problem (Jean frowns) completely.
Jean: (looks mad) Problem?
Duncan: Yeah. (puts arms around Jean�s shoulders, and starts to walk with her) Besides, we could really put your powers to good use, like during the exams or when we go--
Jean: You�you�lughead! (pushes Duncan�s hand & arm away from her, slaps Duncan�s chest, then points a finger at him) Uhh! We are so through!

Then she takes Scott�s hand and walk away, followed by Rogue and Evan. Duncan looks surprised�

Then he kind of leans forward, maybe Evan like pushed him when he walked by or something�anyways�

*Principal Kelly is seen in his car at the front of the school. His hands are gripping the wheel very hard, his eyebrows furrowed angrily.

*Back to Bayville High, in a hallway. Some kid is drinking from a fountain then walks away from the scene. Jean and Scott appear from a doorway. They�re holding hands.


Jean: (looks sad) I�m sorry. I didn�t mean to put you in the middle of that.
Scott: (looks at Jean with a reassuring smile) Hey, what are friends for?
Jean: (smiles) Thanks.

Jean walks away, her hand slowly slides away from Scott�s.

Scott smiles.

**It�s in a busy highway...um one of those highways that are above highways? Kinda like bridges...I dunno what they�re called. I don�t drive yet, heh. Anyway, Logan�s on his motorcycle. Another motorist appears. He raises his hand and is covered with metal. It�s Colossus. He punches the back of a truck, which causes it to slide and hit a car. Logan rides on top of the hit car and over the truck and falls down below on another highway.

**The Brotherhood Boarding House.

Lance looks a little down. He�s sitting on his recliner. Blob walks by, eating a sandwich. Blob & Todd are teasing Lance.


Todd: She don�t even talk to you no more?
Blob: She won�t even come near him. Ha! Ha! Ha!
Todd: Hey, maybe she�ll come to me! Here, Kitty. Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty. (goes behind Lance, about to do something..touch his ear? j/k lol)
Lance: (is pissed. He gets up) Knock it off!!
Todd: Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty. C�mere Kitty! Heh! Heh! Heh!
Lance: You�re really asking for it!

Fred & Todd just keep teasing him, with more �Here, Kitty�s.

Fred: Here comes Lance, looking for romance! Hah! Hah! Hah!

Small parts of the ceiling starts to fall. The two finally stop. Someone knocks on the door 3x.

Toad: Is that Kitty?

Lance opens the door. It�s Principal Kelly.


Kelly: Hello, boys.
Lance: (surprised) Uh, Principal Kelly. What are you doing here?
Kelly: I just thought I�d stop by, and personally invite you all back to school.
Fred: School! Oh, no way. (walks away) We don�t go anywhere we ain�t wanted.
Todd: (follows Fred) Since when?
Kelly: If you do come, (wipes his eyeglasses with a cloth) I�m certain you won�t be bothered by anyone. In fact, think they�re all afraid of you.

The two stop walking.


Fred: Oh, yeah?...
Todd: Hey, if ye can�t be cool, then be feared. My momma always told me that.
Lance: We�ll be there!
Kelly: Wonderful.

**Back to Bayville HS. Kurt is taking a book from his locker, then sees a student near him.


Kurt: (cheerfully) Hey! Hi! How you doing?

Amanda suddenly appears and hugs him.


Amanda: Kurt! I�ve been looking all over for you. How are you holding up after �aah! (is surprised as Kurt holds up his hand to quiet her)
Kurt: Amanda�it�s nice to see you. (grabs her hand and leads her away from the people. They stop behind some lockers)
Amanda: (annoyed) What are you doing? What�s going on?
Kurt: Uh, nothing. Not a thing. Everything is absolutely fine and�
Amanda: Kurt?
Kurt: (sighs) Okay. (whispers) I�m just not ready to be exposed as a mutant.
Amanda: Huh? You mean no one knows?!

Two students walk by. Kurt is very�nervous. Kinda.

Kurt: Hey, how�s it going?

Kurt then leads Amanda away again.


Kurt: They don�t realize that I�m the fuzzy one.
Amanda: That means you�re still hiding�
Kurt: Being thought of as normal has been the best thing that�s ever happened to me. I just can�t give it up yet. Amanda: Kurt, what about standing by your friends?
Kurt: Uh...yeah. I�m sure they�ll be alright.

**Immediately (& ironically), Scott is punched �by Duncan. They�re outside. Duncan�s with two of his goons from the beginning of the ep. Scott lands against the wall�er, the bulletin wall thingie. (Y'know, where Jean spies on Scott & Taryn at "Fun & Games")


Scott: Uhh! (as he hits the wall. then groans) Ohh�
Duncan: I�m gonna make sure you use your powers, Summers. �Cause then it�s bye-bye Bayville High for you.

Duncan: C�mon, mutie. Throw something at me.
Scott: (raises his hand to his shades, then stands up) As much as I�d love to, you�re not worth it.
Scott starts to walk away, but Duncan runs after him, throwing him to his two goons. Scott�s now being held back by the two guys.

Duncan: You torpedoed me with Jean.
Scott: Yeah, blame it all on me....lughead.

We see Kurt walking from behind a building. He�s about to turn, but sees the �fight� scene and hides behind the wall. Duncan takes Scott�s shades (Scott�s eyes are closed) and puts it on.

Duncan: Hey, look at me. Now I�m cool.

They all laugh. Scott takes advantage of it. He grabs one of the guys holding him and throws him at Duncan. Then, he does an awesome spinning kick on the ground, making the other guy fall. All this, and Scott�s eyes are closed:)

Duncan: You�ve had it, Summers!
Scott: Bring it on! I don�t need powers to handle punks like you.

Kitty & Rogue suddenly appear out of nowhere�

Kitty: We�ve got it, Scott.
Rogue: Yeah. Droppin� these losers might just be worth gettin� expelled.

Duncan & the two kinda look scared now� but Duncan recovers fast.

Duncan: (as he throws Scott�s shades away) You guys won�t last two days here.

The three finally leave. Rogue picks up the shades, and puts it on Scott.
Rogue: (nicely) Here you go. They�re gone.
Scott: Thanks. (walks away)

Geek: Hey, what�s your power, huh? Can you, like, read my mind?
Rogue: (annoyingly) Yeah, right. Like I could find it.

Then the girls start to leave, but Kitty stops as she sees Kurt peering behind the other building. Kurt sinks back against the wall. Then two guys are suddenly there�
1st guy: Hey, don�t you live at that mutant place, too?
Kurt: Huh? Oh, no, no, no�
1st guy: But you�re friends with the mutants, right?
Kurt: Well, I, used to be� listen, I�m late for class (backs away, and turns only to see Kitty & Rogue)
Kitty: (mad) Ahem, used to be? Thanks, Kurt.
Kurt: Oh. Hello Kitty. (starts to um�leave) Uh. Bye Kitty! Busy-busy!
All this is being watched by Principal Kelly from a window above. Then he goes outside to talk to his secretary.
Kelly: Dorothy, please page Duncan Matthews and have him report to my office.

**Scene changes to Logan n his motorcycle. He�s following Colossus. C�s with his motorcycle, too, and jumps over a fence. Logan leans sideways, and slides it under the fence. They�re in like a farm now. There�s a barn.

*Colossus is inside the barn. Suddenly, one of the wooden walls burst open with Logan heading straight for Colossus with his motorcycle. Colossus transforms fully, his motorcycle outfit is torn apart. He grabs Logan�s motorcycle and Logan jumps off of it. It crashes behind Logan and bursts into flames. Logan growls.

Logan: You got my attention. (unsheathes claws) Now let�s talk!! Logan runs towards C.

*Back to BHS again�

Duncan: You wanted to see me, Mr. Kelly?
Kelly: Yes, Duncan. Come in. Let�s get right to the point. I�m aware of the little tussle you had with Scott Summers out in the quad.
Duncan: Not a big deal. We were just goofin� off.
Kelly: (disbelievingly) Mm-hmm. Well, I�d be more careful about goofing off with a mutant, if I were you.
Duncan: What? I�m not afraid of him.
Kelly: You ought to be. Look, all I�m saying is that you can�t have a beef with just one of them because they stick together. I�m just concerned for your safety. (looks out the window, sees the Brotherhood walking by below) Oh, look. More mutants. Interesting thing about those boys, there. You actually have something in common with them. They also hate Scott Summers.

Duncan smirks.

**Colossus is thrown out the barn and lands against a�one of those farm plower thingies. He groans. Logan stands by the broken opening at the barn, his claws out.

Logan: Alright, bub. What�s this about?

C lifts the thing.

Colossus: (in a Russian accent) I am to deliver a message. (throws it towards Logan. Logan runs outta the way. With his right claws, he slashes a tire from the flying thing. Then he retracts his claws, and punches the tire towards C. C tries to jump over it, but trips.)
L: From who?! (can you tell am getting tired? I�m abbreviating:)

Colossus stands up and mashes the tire.

C: Magneto! (transforms back to human form) When you tire of the public persecution of mutants, then he invites you to join him and fight.
L: (claws out) So I can be a lackey like you? I don�t think so!
C: I am not a lackey! (sighs) I�I have no choice.
L: (retracts claws, almost relaxes) What�s Magneto got on to you?
C: Enough. (walks away)
L: Whatever it is, there�s a way out. Let us help you. Join the X-Men�
C: (stops, but only for a moment) I cannot.

**BHS. The Brotherhood comes in�feeling very superior.

Fred: Yeah, we�re here!
Todd: Back in school.
Lance: Outta the way!
Fred: Big mutants on campus!
Todd: Hey, let�s steal some lunch!

As Lance is walking by, his body hits the same geek that asked Rogue bout her powers. Lance turns around and talks to the 'smiling' geek.

Lance: (angry�very unlike Lance) Hey. Were you smilin� at me?! Did I say somethin� funny? (grabs him) Funny like a mutant funny?!
Geek: (shakes head nervously) Uh-uh-uh-uh!

Lance lets him go.

Todd: Hey, who knew school could be so much fun?

**Girl�s basketball practice in gym. Jean's in the basketball team, they're playing basketball game on the court.

Girl: Let�s go left, c�mon!

Jean tries to defend, but gets pushed. She rolls on the floor. She gets up quickly and runs after the girl w/ the ball. She steals it, and makes a cool spin move. Then she heads to the other end of the court. A couple of girls try to block her, so Jean throws it kinda off balanced. It goes in.

Girls: Yeah! Alright!


Another Girl: Hey, you used your powers to sink that, and you know it.
Jean: What? I didn�t. Linda, you saw me, c�mon, tell them!

Whistle.

Coach: Hit the bench, Grey. Jones, you�re in.
Jean sits on the bench forlorn. She looks to the left and sees Kelly putting away trophies & things to a box from the shelf in the hallway. Jean heads over to talk to him.

Jean: Principal Kelly? What�s going on?
K: (sighs) Jean, I�m afraid an inquiry�s in order to determine if Bayville High deserves some of these sports awards.
Jean: What are you accusing people of?
K: Not people. Mutants. You think you can all just act normal?
Jean: Sir, just because we have different gifts doesn�t mean we�re not normal.
K: This school has been plagued with disaster. Earthquakes, fires, explosions! Vicious beasts! It makes so much sense now. You�re a menace!
Jean: No, not all of us.
K: You�re right! Some of you are cheats! So, I�m going to need you soccer MVP trophy returned.
Jean: Uh! That is so unfair!
K: A fiery temper! It�s a dangerous combination with your kind of powers.
Jean: I have control over my emotions.
K: And I have a responsibility to keep the normal students out of harm�s way. I�ll see you tonight.

Jean looks sadly, as he walks away.

**It�s night and the scene opens in the school auditorium. It�s filled with parents. There are a few chairs on the stage, and a podium in the center. Jean is sitting on one of the audience chairs, beside Prof who�s in his wheelchair.

Jean: You want me to speak? Professor--
Prof X: Jean, It�s important for them to hear all sides. We need the voice of a student up there.
Jean: Well, I just wish the others would get here. I-I don�t wanna do this alone.
Prof X: I�m sure they�ll be along.

Kurt is leaning against the wall a few feet away, by the door. He closes his eyes, sadly.

*Outside, in the parking lot. Scott, Rogue, Kitty, and Evan are headed to the front entrance of the school. Duncan drives his car in front of them, blocking the way.

Duncan: Hey, Summers. (gets out of car) We have some unfinished business.
Kitty: Oh, brother. Give the macho act a rest, will ya?
Duncan: Hey, the rest of you go on inside. This is between me and him. Man to Man.
Evan skates and stops in front of Duncan. He looks...like a kid, compared to Duncan. He's really short. But, anyways, he's angry...
Evan: We're not goin' anywhere!
D: I figured as much. (whistles)
The Brotherhood appear in their costumes from behind a green vehicle.
Toad: Hah, four of us, and four of you. Blob: (punches the green vehicle, forming a HUGE dent) Only we ain't afraid to use our powers. Avalanche: So guess what happens now?

Scott: Remember, no powers! Kitty: (angrily, heads over to Lance, grabs his costume) This is the true you, isn't it? You're nothing, but a hood! Lance: (at first, looks sorry, but then becomes mad. takes Kitty's hands away from him) I'll never be good enough for you!

Kitty looks like she's gonna cry...kinda. But then Lance uses his powers, causing everyone to lose their balance. Duncan lunges at Scott, knocking him to the ground.

*From this, it alternates from the fighting, to Jean's speech. So, yeah...anyway, just after Duncan jumps at Scott, it quickly changes to Jean. She's up at the stage, behind the podium.

Jean: Uh, good evening. My name is Jean Grey. I suppose I can stand up here and recite the 5th and 14th amendments, or quote some passionate speeches from famous civil rights leaders...but to be honest, I don't want to.

*Quick shot of the Prof watching Jean. He's smiling and looks proud.

*Evan is thrown back, hitting Kitty in the process. The impact also throws Kitty hard against a yellow car.

Kitty: Ow.. (rubs the back of her head)

*Jean: Since this is personal, let's keep it personal.

Rogue is fighting TOad. He slimes her at the chest, while ROgue lunges for him. She misses.

*(Scenes of Kurt, and a few parents listening to Jean.)

Jean:Now most of you have children, and you love them for who they are, and not for what they can or can't do.

*Blob picks up a car, and throws it towards Rogue. Rogue jumps out of the way.

Jean:There is a chance that one of them will have an advanced X-gene. And as they grow older, they will be considered mutants.

*Quick scene of a sour-looking principal. Then, shots of Duncan trying to punch Scott, but Scott's blocking him perfectly. Then Scott throws Duncan right into the back of a pick-up truck.

Jean: You will love them anyway, but people will hate them. And people will want to hurt them. You will hope for the day, when your child can live in a safe world. Well, that world must begin now, with you, by allowing mutants to attend public school. Thank you.

*As Jean finishes her speech, Avalanche does a major eartquake. It causes the parking lot to split, and parts of the ceiling inside the auditorium to fall. Everyone starts panicking, screaming and running.

Kurt: Oh, great. An avalanche...

*Toad: (jumping at the top of a car) That's it. Rock their world.

*People are running, coming out of the exits. The professor's outside now. Few scenes after that are Rogue jumping out of the way of a falling tree, Evan skating into a manhole(sewer thingies) to avoid a car thrown by the Blob. The car lands right in front of Kelly.

Kelly: You see? Mutants are not only dangerous, but uncontrollable.
Prof X: Look again. Despite the overwhelming urge to use their powers, my students are exhibiting self-control.

*Different scenes again: Scott saving Duncan from a flying car, Kitty jumping away from a falling car expertly, Scott running towards Lance, but Lance does a quick earthquake again, causing Scott to fall. Kurt looks uneasy, as if struggling inside whether to help his friends and expose that he's a mutant...that kind of thing. The quake now is really huge. It completely destryos the parking lot.

Jean: We have to do something!

Kurt teleports to two parents, grabbing them and teleporting back to avoid another car. Jean uses her TK to stop a rolling car heading towards a couple, Kitty phases Kelly to avoid him getting hit by a car, Evan uses some spikes to hold a falling pole over people. Finally, the X-Men are gathered in front of the entrance, standing like they always do, looking serious.

Lance: Uh-oh, let's get outta here!

The Brotherhood runs away.

Parents are trying to calm down. Kitty lifts Kurt's left arm.

Kitty: Why don't you shut this off, and dazzle them with the real you?
Kurt: (chuckles weakly) One step at a time.

*Quick 'round shot of the destroyed parking lot.

Jean: Well, not quite the impression I was hoping to make.

*Logan's now underground the mansion again, and while walking in the hallway, he passes by some very sad-looking students. They're in their 1st season oufits.

Logan: There a funeral I dunno about?
Scott: Could say that. We dug our own graves last night.

*They're in sub-level 7. Everyone's sitting round the rectangular table, 'cept Jean. She's standing, leaning against a counter thing...a few feet from the right of the professor.

Prof X: Before I announce the school board's decision, I'd like to say how very proud I am of all of you.
Scott: How can you say that professor? We let you down.
Kitty: Yeah. It doesn't take a genius to know how they voted.
Prof X: You saved their lives. Jean inspired them with her sincerity. And as a result, they want to welcome you back.

No one looks happy.

Evan: Huh, Go figure.
Jean: (heads over to Xavier) Sorry, professor. But it's a litte bit of the good news/bad news kind of thing.
Prof X: I realize this is not an easy time for you. But please realize something. For whatever reason, you have been chosen to take the first step into this new world, to lead the way...to be a beacon of hope for mutants yet to come. This is not only a big responsibility, it is also an honor. I'm always astonished at the wondrous things that can be built from the ashes of tragedy. For even in the face of bigotry and discrimination, the X-Men will endure.

*The scene changes to the still being rebuilt institute, and slowly fades away.
