Star Ocean 2

System: Playstation Date: 1998

This was the sequel to a SNES game that never came out in the U.S.

Graphics: This game features well drawn sprites in highly detailed pre-rendered backgrounds battles take place on a polygonal battle field were colorful spells can be seen.

SCORE: 7

Music: I have heard many reviewers give this game very high marks for the music, they talk about how every track is great and the sound track to this game would be wonderful. While I don't think the games music is as impressive as all that it, the game does have a good score. The body of the music is energetic and sounds to have taken full use of the Playstation's hardware.

SCORE: 7

Story: This game story is one of the worst, no it is the worst story I have ever heard in an RPG. The dialogue goes on for days at a time, boring you to death. The characters are stupid and developed poorly. This game has villains from the generic RPG box, character from another box and... You get the picture.

SCORE: -2 (Fine a O for real)

Gameplay: I have read in other reviews that say this game's battle system and game system's are simple or don't make much sense, I have to disagree. The quasi real time battle's are quite fun. While the skill system let's you do all kinds of crazy stuff, like pick pockets, forge checks, write books and more. Some say you can just pound on the button to get things done, well that's mostly true, but it's fun as hell.

SCORE: 9+

Innovation: You can go past level 1 00! I got my main character up to level 223! Other than that, you can steal from town’s people and forge checks! Did I mention the simple battle system that is fun as hell.

SCORE: 8

Replay: There are over 80 endings, but there so much alike you'll hardly notice. Also there are 2 main character you can choose from at the start. These features along with lots of secrets provide much replay.

SCORE: 8

Overall: God-awful story, but great game still.

SCORE: 8+
