Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest System: SNES Date: 1992 This was Square's attempt to make a beginner RPG so that people would become more interested in role playing games (and you wonder why Square's U.S division does not make games anymore). Graphics: The games graphics are sub FF 4 quality. Most of the environments seem generic and could be done on the NES. SCORE: 3 Music: The game high point is the music. This game had the best basic battle music of any RPG! It Rocks! Other than that the rest of the music in tolerable, no wait it sucks. SCORE: 4.5 Story: There is some sort of a storyline in this game to bad. SCORE: 2 Gameplay: This game was a head of its time, unlike the standard 4 or 5 character parties of the day this game went to new heights with 2! Not only that but with only 2 characters a party the characters have less spells and weapons to obtain! And to top all that off the game guides you via a rail like in Mario World so you can't get lost! SCORE: 2 Innovation: Did I mention the 2 character parties, the ultra linear game play or the low amounts of items you can acquire. SCORE: O Replay: Don't. SCORE: O Note: I did play the game though again but that's because I'm silly. Do as I say not as I do. Overall: I have given this game overall scores in the past that are just too high, this might be to high also. SCORE: 2.5 Note: I did have an ok time when I first play through this game for two days. |
