Final Fantasy 9

System: Playstation

Date: 2000

This game brings back a more traditional feel to the series after Final Fantasy 9's realistic approach.

Graphics: Final Fantasy 9 is in a more traditional world, were there are castles and airships. All location are well rendered and highly artistic. Though Final Fantasy 8 seems to have push the playstation to its RPG limits, Final Fantasy 9 is just as well done. SCORE: 9.5

Music: After the disappointing sound track of Final Fantasy 8, FF9 is back in the tradition of excellent music with many themes ranging from medieval tunes to cool techno beats. The only problem with the music is many tracks sound synthesized.

SCORE: 9

Story: After Final Fantasy 8 disappointing story, FF9 brings us the likable characters and adventurous sprit of past games.

SCORE: 9+

Gameplay: After the complex systems of FF7 and 8 which many complain about (I thought they were awesome) FF9 has a simpler system which is almost as deep as it predecessors. Abilities are acquired through weapons/items that are equip.

SCORE: 9+

Replay: Lots of secrets

Score: 8

Innovation: The game takes its cues from past Final Fantasy's.

Score: 3
