Final Fantasy 7

System: Playstation

Date: 1997

This was the first Final Fantasy for the Playstation.

Graphics: This game visuals were mind blowing at the time of its release and are still impressive today. The polygonal character may have been squashed but the rendered settings were mind blowing. Also of note in is the artistic originally seen in this game that was not so prominent in 8.

SCORE: 9

Music: While the FF music curve peak at Final Fantasy 6 the curve only went down slightly when it got to this game. There are many great tracks in this game almost as many as in FF6 but there a few more flat out duds that just don't sound too good. But even with the duds this games music is great and well composed.

SCORE: 9.5

Story: While FF6 peaked for the storyline and character building, FF7 is not far behind with another amazing villain who is lust about as good as Kefka, add to that a great detail story. But 10! The characters are not nearly as well build or interesting as 6 save for Cloud, the main character.

SCORE: 9.5

Gameplay: Final Fantasy 7 uses the "Materea System" which allows for characters with a dozen or so abilities! Also in use in this game are limit breaks which each character has a set of. There are a massive amounts of spells to acquire even more so than FF6 perhaps. This game does not have helmets or shields making for less equitable items to acquire. SCORE: 9+

Innovation: this game does not break any new ground in its gameplay or acoustics. But does have a more adult story and ground breaking graphics and cinemas. The presentation in this game is unmatched by any RPG before it.

SCORE: 9

Replay: While Final Fantasy 7 seems to have all the basic game play elements of Final Fantasy 6 when it come to replay, such as many side quest, secrets and a lot of things to master. The game falls short of FF6 because of some of the story flaws and early stretches were you may feel like your stuck in Migar. Yet still this game is very fun to play over.

SCORE: 9

Note: This game is a great; I mean great game, one of the best RPGs out there. But some of my review my have dwell a bit much on the negatives; this is because I have compared it to its prequel FF6 which is just a masterpiece.

Overall: A great game.

SCORE: 9.5
