Final Fantasy 4

System: SNES

Date: 1991

This was the First Final Fantasy released for the Super Nintendo. This game was released as Final Fantasy 2 in the U.S and was the First Final Fantasy that had the A.T.B or active time battle (a system using time bars to figure out who turn it is, Though the bar are not show visually in this game).

Graphics: For First generation Super graphics the game looks very nice. Though the simple character sprites of the NES games are still here, the battle animations look vastly improved.

SCORE: 6

Music: This is the start of the big curve were the music in The final fantasy series that just got better and better until it peak at Final Fantasy 6. Characters have there own themes, as do bosses and different game events. The music really hypes up the drama and emotion seen in the game.

SCORE: 8

Story: This game was one of the first RPG's to really focus on character building which though quite rough surpasses almost all previous console RPG's. The overall story itself in nothing to write home about.

SCORE: 6.5+

Gameplay: This game is the first to feature the A TB system or active time battle popularized in later Final Fantasy and other Square games. This makes battle more interesting, not to mention the 5 members you can have in battle at a time.

SCORE: 7

Innovation: The character development and the ATB system are now main stays in the Final Fantasy series and even other RPG games. Yet some of these themes like character development have been explored and refined in past Final Fantasy's and even a few other RPGs like Phantasy star.

SCORE: 7

Replay: This game has many side quests and little secrets here and there thus adding to the replay value. There are also many weapons and armor to find. S

CORE: 6.5

Overall: A well-done RPG.

SCORE: 8
