Chrono Trigger System: SNES Date: 1995 The dream team, a group of programmers from the Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior line of games made this game. As such it is quite a marvel. Graphics: Chrono Trigger featured some of the best graphics of its time upon its release in 1995. With amazing mode 7 and terrific looking locales this game is great for the eyes, for an SNES game. SCORE: 9.5 Music: While the graphics for this day and age may seem archaic the music is anything but that. Chrono Trigger features the best music in any RPG save FF6. There are so many stand out tracks from battle music to character themes each perfectly fitting the environment. I found my self-humming along to so many themes in this game, it was just amazing. 2nd only to Final Fantasy 6. SCORE: 9.5+ Story: Other RPG's may have a likable cast of characters, Chrono Trigger has a wonderful cast of characters each with there own unique personality and reason for their quest. The game features a great story line involving time travel. Do to the time travel nature of the game, scenes that take place in the past affect the future that makes this game so cool. SCORE: 9.5 Gameplay: This game features the standard ATB of the Final Fantasy. Along with that are many battle moves and combos to be learn and lots and lots of items to get. Sounds simple but it's great. SCORE: 9 Innovation: Wow! Chrono Trigger features the amazing new game+. With this feature you can play though the game with all the powers and Items you had in your previous games. This allows you to play though from the beginning starting at level 55, 71 or even 99! Because of this you can acquire the ultra rare items multiple times. Sometimes you will find an item is so useful that you will want to play the game though 7 times to get one for each character! The new game+ is just amazing. SCORE: 10 Replay: Well let's see you have new game+ and all the reasons to play through again because of that. What else could there be... well how about 15 endings! This game is the king of replay. SCORE: 10 Overall: The best non Final Fantasy RPG ever if not the best period SCORE: 10 |
