Words from owner, Florafae: "Bubbles" joined our family at eight weeks of age. Her sire was Donna & Lem's beloved Ch. A*starz And Stripes. She has been owner/handled throughout her career, and received her Championship status on 5/24/92. Our first Champion and were we ever excited!
She produced a litter of eight wonderful puppies: four Champions, one daughter needs a major to finish and one daughter has achieved her CD. Brains and Beauty!
On 11/22/97, just two weeks from her seventh birthday, Bubbles obtained the third leg of her Companion Dog obedience title. Earlier that year, she had achieved her Canine Good Citizen title. Old dogs can learn new tricks! We are so proud of her!
Bubbles, my husband, Burdette, and I are members of the Delta Society Pet Partners. We do pet therapy at a local nursing home; and in the Child, Adolescent, and Adult Behavior Units at BryantLGH West Hospital. It took a long time before the dogs were allowed into the hospital and up on the wards, but it has been such a successful program, that we have been asked to visit two more areas.
We currently have six pet therapy dogs, including Bubbles, her daughter, son and a granddaughter. We were required to pass a written test, as well as demonstrating our ability to handle our dogs; and the dogs were tested in several situations before being approved to do pet therapy. It is quite an honor to have dogs of such great temperament that allows them to be a source of comfort to those in need of a furry friend.
