SAGE'S UNICORN HTML CLASS!

SAGE'S UNICORN'S DIARY OF AN HTML CLASS!

Sun. Nov. 12th:

Finally, finished my 1st class! Just need to add it to Geo-Cities! Surprised my site is still here! It's been a while since I have used it! So hopefully I'll get there sometime in the next day or two to put this, my saved 1st class, on! Very busy with Christmas sites now, really pushing for time, but would really like to learn how to do this properly!! I have been doing a lot of Web Design, self taught, these last months, so I feel very lucky to have this opportunity!

Thought I would jazz the place up a bit since it was quite plain and I'm going to be spending quite a bit of time around here!

Well that's all for now! I made it thru the 1st class o.k. but I'm not sure about the rest!!

Lesson 2:

Have finished Lesson 2 (paragraphs, headings, strong and emphasis), Have also started writing my code in {em} and {strong} tags instead of the {i} for italics and {b} b for bold.

Lesson 3:

I have now begun lesson 3, and starting something I have never done; blockquotes, so here goes nothing!! I will attempt to put my personal quote into blockquotes, and see how it goes!

Well, that wasn't too painful!!

I have also taken the horizontal rule code that was given and moved it from "right" to "center" changed the size to "2" instead of "20".

In using the {pre} & {pre} tags, also something I haven't done before, but I know it will come in very handy, I played a game or tic tac toe with myself and guess what?
I WON!!

X l 0 l 0
_______
0 l X l X
_______
0 l X l X

I had a bit of problems making the vertical lines look like lines, instead of l's, as I am using the "garamond" font face for this project, but finally I figured out, that for the tic tac toe game, I needed to change the font face to "arial", just for the game, then changed it back to "garamond" after the game. I really like the {pre} & { / pre} tags by the way, although it looks very strange behind the scenes!

Lesson4:

For this lesson I am working with Fonts; face, size & color; also included in this lesson colors on pages and special characters are addressed.

I have changed the font face or font-family from the "garamond" that I was using before to the "times, arial" fonts in that order. That way if someone doesn't have the 1st choice of the designer installed on their computer the second and so on will kick in. To my original "garamond"" I have added the "times, arial" font because almost everyone has those fonts installed!

This paragraph, I have changed the background color, font- family, size and text color again.

I have done this because I wanted you to take note of a few of the different signs that I use in my everyday Web Design. I live in Holland and we pay by euros here instead of the good old "GREENBACK", while there is a dollar sign $ on a standard keyboard you do not have a euro € sign! So every day of my life I must use the special sign for that. I can't show you what I use because obviously it would not show up because I'm using HTML, but if I don't put it together you will see it! I use & # 128 together to get the euro sign!

By the way, being American myself I was used to spending the dollar, but I have found, that I do not problems spending money in any denomination!!

I also have Websites that are in the American market so I also need to use the cent sign a lot ¢, that sign is & # 162 put together.

I also use another couple of signs regularly, they are the copyright © and the trademark ™ signs on my pages, you will notice these signs at the bottom of every one of my pages. The codes for those signs are & # 169 and & # 153 respectively.
