More About The Wilmer Intermodal Railport Facility
The Intermodal Railport planned for construction in Wilmer, Texas will start construction around April 2004 and is due to be completed in May 2005. This facility will be a state-of-the-art computerized facility bringing container inventory to Wilmer on rail via railroad container cars to be stored in the Wilmer Intermodal Railport facility until which time as the 18-wheeler trucks can pick up the containers and transport them to their end-user destination. The following picture is that of another Intermodal Railport with the overhead cranes that will offlift the containers from the railcars and set them onto trucks for transport to end users, or place them in the yard for storage until the appropriate truck arrives.
